I have a 1996 Jetta 2.0, 5 speed. My oil warning light and buzzer comes on occassionly. I checked the oil pressure and it's ok. It does have a leak, which looks like its coming from the pan and where the oil filter unit attaches to the block. (and the oil sending unit, which is a common problem. I replaced it on another VW I had) So these should be a simple new gasket fix. However, the oil alarm has me baffled. I can drive roughly 20 minutes at highway speeds and then when I get off the highway it may come on (but not always). This morning, it came on as I got into the parking light at work, I stopped to mail some letters and when I turned the car back on, the alarm was not on. I also unplugged the wire to the sending unit and no alarm, so is there another sensor someone that controls the alarm also ?
Thanks for your help.
