I currently only have one remote flip key for my B5.5 passat, and the case of it is particularly scabby. The silver loop at the top has broken away from the case and is currently glued with some black sikaflex, and the buttons and Vw badge are worn. Is it possible to swap all of the intervals to a new body without having to re-program anything? If so is it dealer only for the part, or eBay perhaps?

You should be able to buy one of ebay and swap the internals over.

One point to remember if I recall correctly, is that the immobiliser transponder is glued in place and should be removed with extreme care.
Nothing to see here, move along..

Its eBay, a good original case cost from around £10,
don't go for the empty copy-cases, the material is inferior.

The case will come with the things you don't need ie; blade,
circuit board and transponder but at least you know its original.

When you just want a case, you don't need to match
    part numbers.

Some of them are new and go for £20, some are used and
are sold by breakers and by former owners, who kept them
in a kitchen drawer instead of giving them to whoever bought
their car, ...but that's another story.

    Regards
    Jim

You can get them new from Deal Extreme, be careful, as there are several similar looking types...

Since your old one is a write off then I'd cut the transponder out very carefully! I did it with some side cutters and cut around it until there was basically nothing else near it, then transfered it over and stuck it in place with some chewing gum (I had nothing else to hand ) Oh and be sure to wind up the spring for the flick key enough before you reassemble it and stick the new VW badge on, I did 2.5 turns which was a bit much, 2 is fine. Less than that and it's a bit limp....

Job done Took about 10 minutes going carefully. The transponder came out very easily. I put a small flat head screwdriver under it, and with almost no force at all it came out (I was super careful, didnt want to break it as its my only key with a transponder!). Thanks everyone

What did the transponder look like, was it like my avatar?
