I thought the corrado trailer image i posted lookes quite sad but nonetheless clever as it seemed too tall. However, i fancy one like it for my car but it'll probably cost a fortune. where would you get one made?
Obviously the weight comes down as you'd remove things like brakes, fuel tank, electrics (except lights) and in my case like the image below roof and windows for use as a open top box trailer.

feel free to edit / alter the image as you see fit to make it look better or whatever. only the trailer tho, leave the car alone.

that must weigh a ton, i guess its the ultimate mod if you tour a lot, but just for around town and short trips to the tip etc, i think the expense of it would far outweigh the usage besides, what id end up spending on a trailer, i could get a better car with

Its open to all, play to your hearts content, it has to remain practical tho

The passat is ott and too impractical. Usless over speed bumps and hump brigdes, let alone on and off ferries and trains.

Personally I wouldn't take a car and chop it into a trailer, no matter how cheap you could get a rear end from say a car damaged in a front end collision. Mounting up to the chassis of a car with no real structural chassis would be my 2nd concern, weight my third, balance and centre or gravity my fourth.

IF i were to have a custom trailer of this nature, I'd spec out the size of the rear of my exsisting car, find a rear axle thats approximatly the right size, fire up my grinder and welder, take them to some box section and some tubular steel then fit body panels/roof/tailgate and some matching wheels from a rear end over that, I wouldn't go for such a square end on a custom trailer either
You may think I'm being helpful yet sarcastic, this is only because I feel I need to help you to help yourself in the future

I see what you mean, needs to have a larger overhang at the rear of the trailer to compensate.

    Will use a Jetta then.

If you tried to put a bit of weight in one, you might find your steering light and your front tyres not wearing an awful lot

    I got bored, sorry!

I started with the front end mirrored and then you could use the engine bay as storage.

Then I did the whole car again, minus the front end, and roof section a la 1980s trailer-tent (double wheeled).

As for the Passat, I completely agree, but it's a show vehicle. I think at one point the rear was used as a travelling bar.

How about a complete chassis, minus all roof, windows, interior, engine, basically strip the lot down and justy attatch an A frame?
