The otherday i brought home 21 years and i assumed that my insurance would see the benefit of me being a year older, a year wiser and a year of owning my golf 150pd without sticking it on the wrong aide of hedge and congratulate me with a cheaper insurance quote...dont be daft

Now yes i am young and i do have rather a powerful car for my age so im not expecting major cheap insurance, last year i paid £1500 for my insurance so i rung up and asked for my renewal....£2000....come again?!

Thank you to all the people who:
    1. Cant keep control of their vehicle in the snow
    2. Find themself in a minor accident in which they recieve a stuff neck and fancy suing the *** off the offending party
    3. The government, obviously. Recession blah blah

I do appolize if this topic has been brought up before but i felt the need to vent and to ask people if they have suffered at the same hand in which iv been delt

I always thought 25 was the magic age?

My office insurance has risen 25% to a few digits short of a 5 figure sum, my professional insurance is a very healthy 5 figure sum (up about 20%) and so on.

Insurance (all types) premiums have risen this year - you're not alone.

Turning 25 made a difference of about £50.

I find Confused.com really useful, every renewal I get is higher, so I go out and get the cheapest quote, and tell my current insurer to match it or get stuffed. Usually works and I don't have to faff about changing insurer.

Exactly what I've done for the last 5 years. They always magically manage to reduce their renewal quote by the £100 they added since last year, and match the cheapest online quote I've had.

Yeah I did have an experience a bit like that with RAC when I would have been around 21. Sometimes you're left with no option to switch.

I suppose they have to look at their profit margin and change their rates depending on the year they as a company have had.

    Still, their loss, not yours!

May I ask what insurance your with?
Adrian Flux are especially good for younger drivers.
I'm with Direct Line, and I was 23 with 3yrs n/c when I got a quote for our new Octavia vRS, with SWMBO as a named driver. It was £200 ontop of our Clio's insurance, so come renewal time it "should be" <quote by Direct Line> around £800... Thats with 6pts too...

atm im with kwik fit, not the greatest of companys but the cheapest i could find at the time, im not fussed about the fact that its high £1500 i dont think is bad for a 20yr old on the group 15 insurance car but its the fact that its shot up £500 through no fault of my own
