Hi all, new here. Looks like a vibrant community!

I currently drive a 2003 basic 105bhp Passat TDI. I now have a choice to make.....changing jobs so changing cars, €40,000 to spend (I'm in Ireland). Should I go for 140bhp Passat Highline or an A4 1.9TDI SE?
While I'd like an A4, the internal space is putting me off a little, and the spec. on the passat is a nice bit higher.
    Any advice from you experts??

ehey there, interesting question about the passat/a4 thingy. Up until about three weeks ago i would have said audi all the way. I will explain.

Recently i have upgraded from a fiesta (bless it) to a 1.8T sport passat (2001) it blew me away and has some fantastic features like auto darkening of the rear view mirror and auto windscreen wipers/cruise control and 17 alloys. The only slight down side being that it eats about a ton of petrol but hey!

Recently i have been given a company car and it turned out to be no less than an audi a4 s line 2.0 tdci (auto). So, before you step into it from the outside..looks like an amazing car, nice body lines, that amazing grill and sexy alloys with fat bridgestone tyres. Sat inside, greeted with a massive array of familiar settings and buttons but missing a few things, namely, no cruise control, no auto mirros and no automatic lights/windscreen wipers...i was shocked to say the least as this car is probably worth about 10k more than my passat originally. then to drive, really not that exciting...for all the audi hype there is, i was actually quite dissapointed!

I would say go drive one definatly but i reckon pound for pound a nice spec passat would be better value and excitement. To be honest the car that rocked my world was the 2.2 tdci mondeo ST, i drove that about two weeks ago and it blew me away, it's like excrement off a shovel and comes with every extra under the sun, way more fun just not the same kudos + not very understated but incredibly economical!
