suprising how confusing this can be, especially when you stand in front of your car. now, which side is your steering wheel on? correct, the right hand side, because its not a left hand drive. so the right hand side is as viewed facing the rear of the car, and is also known as the offside. the left side, where your passenger sits is known as the nearside, because its near the side of the road. this only applies when a car is driven on the left hand side of the road, so is confusing to yanks, and blondes. sorry if my explanation sounds very patronising at all to you, as its only meant to sound slightly patronising .
damn that crasher, got there before me.

did you notice zollaf error - he said right hand when facing the rear of car - it should be when facing front. simply understood is right hand is drivers side in a right hand drive car. left hand is nearest the kerb in UK

The handing of a cars part location is always viewed as sitting in the seat looking forward. I had a “discussion” one Christmas (too much alcohol) with my family where they insisted that the handing of a part changed depending on how you look at it, which I strongly disagree with. As I said to them, if I did that it would cause immense confusion when it came to ordering parts as ETKA define the left and right as not changing which to me is common sense.
