    Hi all,

I own a MK5 golf 1.6 fsi sport. My stereo seems to have died! From googling I believe the head unit is a RCD300. I've changed the fuse under the bonnet and even the one in the back of the stereo, both of which looked fine when I changed them, yet to no avail. Its dead. No back light, no LCD display, nothing. There was no sign of it being "on its way out", it just didn't turn on a few days ago. It's a real ball ache. I don't want to take it to the dealer for obvious reasons.
Do any of you guys have any suggestions? Is it a case of it just being broken?
I'm kinda worried about just buying a new or used one (can't really afford to right now) in case its not the actual head unit and it being a wiring fault?

    I'm kinda lost.

    Please help.

    rob

hi mate best thing to do is contact a local mechanic, who can check the wiring to the radio, and go from there bud, TBH it does sound like a fuse because when my lights are on the buttons on mine light up even when the radio is turned off
