Slight Whining Noise from Engine

Hi Guys,Cheers fro all the help so far and replies, Just wondering if anybody can help me with this, After i drive my avant 1.9tdi doesnt matter if its short journey or long journey wheni take my key out of the ignition i hear a slight whining noise as if something is still spinning around and then it stops, There no warning lights on my dash or anything like that and the car drives 100%,

Hopefuly somebody as come across this before.Should i be worried.

Is it the air conditioning system venting / equalising?

Mine certainly hisses / whines for a few seconds after turning it off.

Turn you air con off (Econ Mode ) and try it on a journey. Regards Peter

Hi,well ive got nothing turned on at all not even the radio and the noise is not apparent when driving,it literally happens when i turn of the car and id say the noise lasts maybe 10-15 seconds, or less.

to me it just sounds like something is still spinning around for a few seconds after i turn of the car,i dont know a huge amount about cars and i have even less knowledge of turbo diesels as this is my first diesel car.

would it be something as simple as the turbo winding down,if there is such a thing.and again no warning lights on dash and driving perfect.

is it something i should be worried about?? Please dont scare me lads

might be just the viscus fan spinning.

Try opening the bonet before you turn off and see if you can see it moving after you turn off.

Cheers Columbo, Il try that sometime tomorrow, hopefuly its something that i dont have to be concerned about,cause im skint at the minute and couldnt afford a big garage bill.

Are you sure you have got the heating turn off so there are no fans running. I doubt it. Regards Peter
