Passat not starting

Hi Guys,

My 2006 1.9 has just been for it's 40k service last week (maybe nothing to do with this problem, but i'll mention anyway)
I put the key in 75% as usual, the dash lights as expected, but pushing it 100% will not start the car.
The car makes a really fast ticking noise (best way i can describe it), not like the engine is trying to start if that makes sense.
No imobiliers lights etc. or warnings, although the red dash text (seatbelt warning etc seems dimmer than usual)
I'm waiting for a jump start shortly, but dreading that isn't as simple!!
Was fine yesterday, the lights go on, keyfob works etc, boot can open with fob. Windows interestingly enough went down with the fob, but not back up. Took a few attempts to get the window up using the buttons inside the car, when they did they really struggled. It's sounds like a battery problem when looking at the windows, but if there is enough power for that, then surely there is enough to fire it up?

Battery!! Became more obvious prior to the jump start, the display was fading more on every attempt. Thanks anyway. I'll leave the post in case anyone else gets this.

Flat again today. I'll leave it until tomorrow, get it jump started and round the battery place, see what they reckon.
