I had the 2.0T on the track yesterday. After a short while it lost oil pressure in hard brake ins, light/warning message stayed on till the igntion had been turned off and on again, but I am guessing it really lost the oil pressure for just tenths of a second. However it's an annoying message and I drove to pit every time it happened - didn't feel like pushing it.

This has never happened on the road, even with hard driving, but it was repeatable on the track. Could go at 80% and keep it on the limit of ABS kicking in (or maybe only on the front wheels), but braking even harder and having the ABS kick in rear as well it happened every time.

I didn't care to check what oil my dealer used for the last service, but I checked before going to the track because I needed to top up the oil level, and I was amazed to hear they used Shell oil (Helix Ultra Extra 5W-30). Shell oil has been the recipe for disaster on a lot of BMW engines. And besides that it looks like water in room temperature. Can only imagine how it is with a glowing red turbo on the track.

Castrol also recommends 5W-30 (Edge). I am considering trying a higher viscosity non-longlife oil instead.

As it is now it's a major problem and a useless track car. :-(

Anyone else has experiences with this?

I'd sort out the crank case ventilation system if I was you. My understanding of the tfsi is whenever the turbo boosts, the pcv valve shuts to stop positive crank pressures entering via the inlet manifold. If you spend a lot of time under boost (inevitable with racing) your crank pressures will get high, potentially blowing past piston rings/oil seals.

You can get kits which separate the breather system from the induction side of the engine, although it would not meet emissions regs then.
Get educated or get ripped off!
