Different terrain and conditions is all. Want to have a different set of tyres on the 18's. Makes for much easier swapping over as the years go by ... without having to go to a loal tyre centre and have tyres swapped.

Good shout re the 17's option - another choice - and prob easier to get a spare set of 17's - loas of folk will have gone from 17 to 18 at some point - just have to get the right offset etc etc.

    Cheers

My S Line has the standard 18" wheels, it was in for service today and I got an s line saloon (also in Lava Grey!!) with 19" wheels on. I actually thought it rode better than mine!

Also had a multitronic box............ I'm in love!!!

Bratty, does this site not help especially if you budget in the chains (actual diameter, say 5mm on top of the tyre?), so you see the clearances you'd have...?

I'm looking at Winter tyres too. I thought that in France for example the chains weren't required if you have M+S marked tyres? Is that wrong then?
I was going down the 16" route with huge profile for M+S tryes...

Hope this helps but I suspect you've seen these!

Oh, it would appear that other websites state that the Snowflake symbol signifies the Winter tyre and chains in France are also compulsory with or without the Winter tyre...

Confused as one site says one thing etc..

Sorry for changing the thread... I'll stop now!
