    hi All,

i just invested in Ross tech SW/cable and I can now be super smart when I arrive at the dealer on Monday morning for my long standing car cutting out when warm problem.

However, I wonder does anyone have a list of the measurement blocks and what they represent? Some are obvious but many are not.

Anyway the 1 that sticks out like a sore thumb is measurement block 20.

It shows 1 of them reading -40 C !!! I think second from left.

Bearing in mind it's a 34 C day out there I somewhat doubt that is correct.

Can anyone shed light on these measurement blocks for me? They appear to not be in agreement with the ross tech wiki on the subject... which I notice says petrol engines

    cheers

vcds does not always read true compared to vas as I have also found.
post your engine code and I will post all mvb and what they are.
Since ross tech removed the log files from there site its become harder to source the mvb but I have all of them for vw and audi.

    - With exhaust gas recirculation switched off, e.g. due to

Ok I did a comprehensive check of the engine measurement blocks with the car warmed up.

    2 notables..

    003 EGR

    engine speed 756 1100 1900 2300

    specified intake air mass 534 329 517 1198

    actual air mass 423 440 470 580

Err that can't be right! Does it look like a MAF is telling the EGR a load of rubbish? Or am I misinterpreting??

Also air mass at idle is not even close to the specified 210 to 280 mg/stroke

So this lead on to 022 Rail pressure control (at idle)

    specified pressure 227

actual fluctuating form 220 to 235

    THEN

Car tried to die, but the engine caught itself on and stayed running

    BUT

    022

    specified pressure now 482 bar

Actual fluctuating from 460 to 480 bar

Now that is weird, but could be related to mad MAF??

I have all the fuel pressure related error codes

Methinks the EGR is doing mad stuff and the P1018 is also due to trying to do something impossible.. but maybe not :-|

Anyway I am ready for the Audi franchise Monday... Any further hints tips greatly appreciated.

    ciao

    Hi Sedefcha

It was the high pressure fuel pump. In fact it was the fuel metering valve into the high pressure pump, but guess what... that metering valve is not sold separately. Look for a distributor of Bosch pumps where you live and you will save a lot of money.. then find a decent independent mechanic to fit it.. Or if you can find a local Bosch specialist they may be able to repair. Mine has been perfect for 2 years since.

    good luck

Thank you for your fast replay
I am sure that VAG and Bosch are happy to sell bigger and more expensive details... I will follow your advice and will take remanufactured pump from Bosch or will buy second hand pump. I am skilled enough to install it and still keep warranty
Tomorrow I will only try swaping the fuel pressure regulating valve from a known good car, just to be sure.

Interesting thing is that when i unplug the fuel pressure sensor engine stops cutting but enters limp mode and power is significantly reduced... love diesel smell
