    Hello,

I have recently purchased a VCDS cable and made a small test on my car (Audi Q7 3.0 TDI 171 kw). Tried to reset them and these are the error that came back:

I have already purchased another coil to replace the broken one (assuming this error is correct).
I'm not sure about the others. I have no error signaled on the dashboard. The only problem is with the trunk lowering button that should use the leveling system to lower the trunk.
Please let me know your expert opinions.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Hi Dan - welcome to the forum
I don't know about all the faults. I get the odd "open circuit" on the plugs from time to time. I never know about it until I do a scan. I asked the Audi guy at the last service about them and he said its very rare they have to change the plugs - he also said it was a good thing too as it was a big job. Apparently the monitoring system is very sensitive to small variations in resistance so it could be a bit of corrosion somewhere, a problem with the harness or a poor connection with the plug.

I have the same Intake Manifold Runner fault and that looks like it could be a bit more of an issue. Engine light came on today and its the only fault that doesn't clear.

Let us know if you find out any more.

left bank manifold motor and runner. ball socket wears causing implausible signals for open and closed position.

Can you tell which one is broken from the error code?
I'm asking because I change the on from the passenger side both actuator and the plastic thing and it was expensive I must say.
I have cleared that error last week and it didn't appear again so far. Is there anything I can do to make it live longer? Like spraying the actuator mobile parts with some WD-40 ?

    Thank you so much

You should be able to tell from the VCDS scan. Here's my error - I've got the full HEX-CAN to USB cable:
004120 - Intake Manifold Runner (Bank 2): Lower limit not reached
    P1018 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded

It does show as Bank 2. I guess yours would be Bank 1. Looks like the valves in the runners are the swirl flaps. I've posted some info in this thread:

How much did it cost you (DIY or dealer)? Do you notice the car running any different?

The actuator + the plastic valves (this is what u need) was around $600 but I didnt got it from the dealer since it would have been more expensive I suppose (including mounting).
Yes the car was slightly better and the fuel consumption got better also.
It seems that this is a general failture piece on 3.0 TDI engines .. too bad, the car is excellent on all other aspects.

    Edit:
According to your PDF attached on the other post you will need to change the intake manifold bottom part(the one with the swirl flaps - it has a triangular shape) + intake manifold flap motor. You will need to change both because it won't work otherwise. I have tried to change the motor only and the error was still appearing on both dashboard and VCDS.

What you can do before going to the car service is try to spray the motor mobile part (that small arm that moves the swirl flaps) with WD-40 and some lubricant spray afterwards. Maybe it is stuck there because of corrosion or something. Then use the car for a while, reset the errors with VCDS and see if you get them back.
If you get them back you will have to change them unfortunately.

Yes, I'll definitely try giving it a spray. The engine light has actually gone off without me doing anything. Here's hoping a bit of preventative tlc will make it last a bit longer.

Did you do the work yourself? Looks like a fairly major job..
