My Audi A4 TDI 1997 110 Bhp has an A/C problem. It will not direct air either to the windscreen or the floor and the A/C will not switch on. I have jumped the compressor and the A/C works fine and is nice and cold. I scanned it with a Snap On scanner and got these messages:
1 01272 central air flap motor V70 blocked or no voltage
2 00601 central flap motor pos sensor G112 defect
3 00604 back press flap motor pos sns G113 open circuit/short with power

Any ideas before I start strippeng the heater system.
    Tanks.

00601 Potentiometer -G112 in the positioning motor -V70 (for central flap)
00604 Potentiometer -G113 in the positioning motor -V71 (for air-flow flap)
01272 Central flap positioning motor -V70

I would say you have faulty V70 and V71 motors.

V70 is quite easy to do with the foot well vent out and the V71 requires the removal of the glove box so not to bad to do. The motors are about £100 each from Audi but I think the air blending flap is available aftermarket

Well I stripped of all around the heater and got access to the flap positioning motors which were not working. Rang Audi and was told £120 a piece. Opened up boxes and took motors out. Cleaned them carefully especially the grooves in the commutator and put them back together. Work perfectly. Saved £240. Also got my AC working too which was the connector to the compressor. The female part of the connector had pushed back into the housing so there was no connection. Just got the power issue to sort out now as I lose power if I accelerate up a long hill. I think it's Turbo clean up time.
    Thanks for your replies.

I have problems with my Aircon too, audi A4 1.9 TDI SE 1998. I wish I was as confident as you in fixing things. My Aircon works, but no cold air comes out, only what ever the temp is outside. I have had it regased, but they told me it's not the gas it's the pump. Wanna come round to mine and put a new one in for me? I also had a prob ages ago with the turbo, I was losing power. I reved it up so it went into the red, and floored it from a stand still. Never had a problem since! Maybe it was a bit of S4it in the pipe!
