I managed to find an organisation where they supply Turbo cleaner spray for all German diesels. I had a thorough read on what it actually does, and it looks pretty impressive. I am going to order that tomorrow!

Have any of you guys tried this stuff?

    Have a read:

Not used the spray, but I have stripped a turbo to clean it.

There is no chemical on earth that could make it through the intake system, avoid getting burnt in the combustion chamber, exit to the hot side of the turbo, wriggle past the clearances, dissolve the carbon, get back into the hot side of turbo then get out of the exhaust without destroying the DPF and catalyst on its way out. Not on my audi turbo, no way, no sir.

Not liquid kryptonite or even the red liquid that consumed a whole planet in the last Star Trek movie.

On a positive note, I do have some special medicine made from snake spit than can cure gout and make you more attractive to the laydeeeees. £30 a bottle, no refunds, PM me if you want some.

You are correct, there isn`t a chemical that can make it through the intake system, combustion chamber etc, etc.

Fortunately, that isn`t what you do with Innotec.

I hesitate to ask, but .............. what do you do then?

Surely it isn't a turbo off job or maybe dissassemble part of the exhaust manifold? If so, cleaning out the turbo properly is easy peasy once you've got that far.

Moreover, you need to get the actuator ring out to clear the carbon from around the edges and underneath otherwise any relief will be very temporary.

Carbon tetrachloride and a lot of mechanical scrubbing used to be a good way to loosen and dislodge carbon, pity it's now banned because it is so carciogenic. Molten iron is good for dissolving the stuff, but your turbo isn't going to stand a wash out.

By all means, if you want to kid yourself that the job is done, or better still, get a few extra days or weeks of apparently good performance to fool a buyer when selling your car, spend your money on a tin of something.

Having blown an Anglia 105E engine to bits with Redex many years ago I'm wary of putting anything in an engine other than petrol, oil and anti freeze. Good luck!

I have used Innotech on the OHs B5.5 130 TDI Sport. Previously my old company car, we bought it at about 130k, and three and a half years later its now on 144K. The OH does loads of short (less than 2 miles) journeys.

We had a problem with the car overboosting and going into limp mode and after a diagnostic check was told the turbo vanes were sticking. For the sake of 30 quid and an hours work I thought it worth a punt.
You dismantle the exhaust/turbo outlet join, split the two, put a blanking card with a little hole at the top over the turbo outlet and bolt ino place, then squirt in the cleaner (apparently some people now use oven cleaner), you leave the stuff in for some time whilst working the actuation rod, then eventually flush out the cleaner and crud with a solvent spray.

Does it work? Difficult to say, but the car hasn`t dropped back into `limp-mode` since ( that was last September), and its performance still leaves my TDI 140 Sport for dead.

Its used throughout Europe ( i initially read about it on a SEAT chatroom, but it has been used by AUDI and skoda drivers as well), although maybe I and the others that think it works were just lucky, or maybe decided not to form an opinion without first seeing what was involved?

I have to admit that I have given up with Innotec turbo clean. On the last one I did it made the problem worse by making a sticking vane ring stick solid. On the one before that it did not cure the problem. On both I removed the turbo’s and could see no sign of the chemical having removed anything except having dislodged a lump of carbon that jammed the ring. I took a new can of the cleaner and sprayed it directly onto half the carbon and left it overnight. The next day I rinsed it off with the rinse agent and there was absolutely no difference between the two halves, the only thing that will remove the build up is mechanically polishing it off with a wire brush or bead blasting. If anyone wants Innotec turbo clean, I have two sets sitting on the shelf going nowhere. By the way, if you decide to use it, buy some thick paint stripper proof gloves and wear eye protection, it is nasty stuff.

You have obviously never cleaned an oven. If you had you would know that chemicals on their own never work.
