Audi A4 1.9 TDi Low Oil Pressure light update
Hello All, PLEASE HELP!
The RAC man came out to the car last night and said in his opinion it was the oil pressure sensor that had gone.
Cool, It thought, so this morning replaced the sensor with a new one, feeling good, started the car and after a minute of fast idle on came the warning again!
Looked again at the switch and noticed the cable out of the plug had some exposed wire, so the question is, can I cut the plug off and replace it with a single spade connection? Obviously insulating it accordingly for weather etc. Or, does this morning need a reset via a computer?
I also have oil flush fresh filter and oil to do an oil change on the car tomorrow, hoping that it may clear out any sludge build up and help??!
So any help please let me know!!!
Thanks
Re: Audi A4 1.9 TDi Low Oil Pressure light update
I think you should stop guessing and have a pressure test done, your running the engine could be causing expensive damage BUT having said that the 1.9TDI engine is not known for oil pressure issues but it really makes sense to be safe not sorry. If the wire from the sensor is split but still intact I don’t think repairing it will help.

First of all, dont worry about reseting or clearing old fault codes, you can do that
anytime in the future.
The exposed wire would have to be touching metal to make a switch..
is it?
You can make a new connection or insulate the wire, but i think you
should be thinking that the oil switch is doing the job that its meant
to do.
I would drain and do a full flush, not just use a flushing additive.
Time to get that old oil outta there and see what state its in.

Get a oil pressure test done asap,if the oil pick up pipe is blind with crud,no flushing will shift it,its a sump off job.

Thanks everyone for the info,
Been calling every mechanic, breakdown service and garage I can so far to try and get a pressure test done! apparently no one carries oil pressure testing kits!
I will succeed!
Thanks again
