Re: New front pads fitted, now there is a rattle
SO that's it finally fixed, one of the sets of pads from Audi fixed the rattle, about time too but they were good about it and didn't ask for any more money and I kept my cool throughout so all good in the end.
Thanks for the help with this issue, you were all great,
Cheers,
Ally
Re: New front pads fitted, now there is a rattle
I’m having the same problem on my a6 c7 . Just had mintex discs and pads fitted . They rattle over every speed hump and they slip in reverse. Has the mechanic back who took the pads out . He bent the retaining clips back to make it a tighter fit . It was better for a couple of weeks but the rattle and slipping is back again . Can the OP tell me which brand of pads worked for him . We’re they genuine Audi parts ? Thanks
Re: New front pads fitted, now there is a rattle
try Pagid from EuroCarParts, they are OEM
Some of them , if not all come with sliders to fit
What you may find with pads, is that they put a real extra thick paint on the metal; causing them to stick in the sliders. I have had to buff them down on a grinder , just enough to slide freely but not be loose
A wee dab of Copper grease as well helps
Also make sure you check in which pad goes to piston
I get around 40-45,000 miles in my A6 with the Pagids, towing a 1,800 kg horsebox as well
Re: New front pads fitted, now there is a rattle
I had a similar issue. Bought my pads from euro car parts. Turns out there are 2 different sizes because some of the same model has bigger disks. Mine are the bigger ones. I knew something was wrong when I noticed the new ones didn't have the bits for the retainer clip to go in. You may need to measure your disk diameter as the garage will just use your number plate and may assume all results are the same.
