Tool required for Audi Roof Bars
Hi, hope you can help. I'm changing my car from a Avant C6 to a C7 and have just ordered some second hand Audi roof bars on eBay (as understand my C6 ones wont fit).
Unfortunately the seller has lost the tool used to tighten them.
Can someone who has a set please let me know what the tool is and what size (is a std hex or star fitting??)
Cheers Dave

Bog standard alan (hex) key number 6 if I'm not mistaken. I do not use the one supplied but the proper small torque wrench as you are supposed to tighten them to 5nm I think (it is specced on the actual feet in my case).

Re: Tool required for Audi Roof Bars
The Audi one is an allen key but has the torque ratchet built into it. Think the part number is 8K0071712

Thanks Scott.
BTW I've just had a proper giggle with my own post above - not sure if it's autocorrect or me to blame (Allen -> alan) :D

Re: Tool required for Audi Roof Bars
FYI I use my C6 Thule bars on my C7 with no issues.
Re: Tool required for Audi Roof Bars
On my roof rack it's 10nm and it's a multispline head on the rack and socket on the tool

Re: Tool required for Audi Roof Bars
Bars have arrived. Unfortunately not a std hex key. Head is a spline type bolt but even this looks proprietary as it has 3 flats amongst the splines too :-( Looks like a hunt on eBay :-(

Managed to find this on a forum, looking at my bars I need code HS. Seem very expensive, maybe they weren't the bargain i thought they were :-(

I hate to say I told you so....
Re: Tool required for Audi Roof Bars
could you remove those security bolts and replace with a socket head capscrew (AKA allen bolt) ?
or get a small dremmel type tool in and cut a slot in the head to take a flat screwdriver bit or grind off the security flat splines so it will take a standard splined socket.

Haha didn't stop you though 😂 have the previous owner searching his garage to try and find the tool. If not will see if it's possible to simply replace the bolts with std Allen key bolts. Seems Audi overkill to put locking wheel nuts on roof bars would hate to have to spend around £40 just to get a replacement tool 😭
