Footwell lights wired to interior roof light
New here so hi! :)
I have just bought a 2010 A4 Avant Special Ed and I'm wanting some footwell lights. Theres non already in but wouldn't mind some subtle red in the footwells. I previously had a Civic Type-R FN2 and I tapped into the wiring from the interior light (Dome light) so there all worked in sequence and it looked great.
Does anyone know if this can be done? Or point in in the direction of locating this wire? Any plans wiring diagrams or help would be great!
Thanks!

Personally I'd use an add a fuse in the fuse box. Less messing about.

I’ve thought this but I don’t really want them on all the time. I’d rather them just come on with the interior light and go off with them if that makes sense?

If you want test - connect one to interior circuit...but i dont know will this throw error or not...due different power consumption...
Re: Footwell lights wired to interior roof light
Cheers for those! I’ve read through all of them to see what I can come up with.
I was wondering if it would bring an error up.
I’m not that up on all this Vag-com stuff so not really sure what I’m doing there.

Probably not as led normally use only 1,5-3w each...and some people have added rear ones to front circuit- also no errors etc!

Ah right! Very useful info there Gunnark100, thanks a lot!
Next thing then, you wouldn't happen to know how to remove the interior light would you? :1zhelp:
I just had a quick look and there is a torx screw in the sunglasses pocket but surely must be held on with more than that.
Re: Footwell lights wired to interior roof light
Yes, thats all you need, remove torx it will drop down from that end a bit and just pull it gently off!
from 1min 30 or so...

Edit: Not keen to double check, but interior light "power" should be from j519...located above pedals so to say....makes a bit easier to route the wires then via dome!
Connector D (17-pin)
Pin 17: Terminal 30g - supply (interior light supply)
Re: Footwell lights wired to interior roof light
Thats great!! Thanks so much for those pieces of info! :D
I'll have a blast at scotch locking onto the wire at the weekend and see what the results are. Is there a chance something could go wrong with the electrics in any way, from your experience?

Yes, you can hit +wire with ground and fuse will blow:D...
Edit: If you have present time under car menu backround or ambient light option and you can control dome dimming now...take power from dome light!
