Thanks again, now i am more confused as i just watched dan Audi info video that states that the unit will always use the installed sim in preference to the blutooth attached smartphone.
To me that says, anyone calling me would need to call the number of the installed sim acrd and not my number? how does that work.
Thank you
Re: Basic / stupid questions about my first Audi.
Go into settings under phone. You can choose whether to use SIM in car or personal phone as preferred number to dial out. You can also choose whether to use the sim data allowance as a hotspot for others in the car, or turn that off. You can't use the iPhone data allowance for the mapping due to apple not supporting rsap iirc.
Text message can be displayed from either the SIM in dash, or your iPhone, it will display the relevant device, no need to switch devices.

That makes it much clearer thank you. Just need for the car to be delivered.
One final thing, if i was not using an iPhone would tethering be possible? is it just an 'Apple' thing?

I use a Three Data Sim which gives 12gb data for 12 months for £30. In 6 months in 5.5k miles, of using it for Google Maps I've used less than 1gb.

Is there no way to tether the Nav System to my existing phone data contract?
Thank you.
