Setting up e-mail access on MMI?
Hi all
I am stumped by the e-mail access on the Q7 MMI. I have a 2017 MY e-tron, so it's got the full MMI, SIM, etc. Embarrassingly, while I have the car 10 months, I never really attempted to setup e-mail access in the MMI.
My phone is a Galaxy S9+, and all the usual functions work fine: BT calls, Txt messages, music streaming, Android Auto, Spotify, Internet Radio, etc.
I use the phone data transfer for Audi Connect, I see the news, weather, my phone calendar in the MMI. What I can't get to work is email. All the subscriptions are in date other than Mobile Data, and I don't need that as I use the data allowance on my phone.
When I scroll to e-mail on the Audi-Connect I get "No mobile phone is connected or no e-mail account has been added"
As a phone is connected, it's clearly that the account is not added. I did find reference to using the mobile app to do this, but I see no functionality in the "Red" or "Grey" phone app relating to email?
And as for the web interface!!! What a mess. My favorite feature was the ability to send a location from Google maps on my desktop to the car. Now I can't even get past the Audi login page, it just freezes.:mad::mad: ***:mad::mad:
I have not spent much time on this, but Audi will really alienate customers up if this is the best they can do. :aargh4:

I don't get emails any more (I used to, until Audi did whatever it was they did with the MMI and MyAudi)
I think I'll be moving on from VAG cars for my/our next purchase(s)
VAG don't seem to care about resolving customer service problems but plenty of other manufacturers do.

Re: Setting up e-mail access on MMI?
I'll be honest, I've not tried it in ages, but the only way I got email to work was if my email was setup in the "Native" email app on my android phone. I think on Android its literally called "Email"
If I have my email running in a 3rd Party App on my phone (I use an app call "Nine") then the MMI won't see the email account. As I obviously use my phone for email a lot more than the MMI system I gave up...

Odd isn't it? I've never had email working on my A7 either. My wife's Q2 works fine and she didn't have to do anything, it just works from a connected phone.

Similarly, my Samsung S7 is connected to the car (2017 Q5 S line TFSI) and I see my emails because mine is set up in the "Native" email app also.
Looks like the best way forward is to use that basic email app all the time.

I've an S7 too. I must give the native email app a try if it works. As I said my wife didn't do anything and uses the gmail app on her samsung phone. Must be the newer tech in the Q2s.

Same here. Looks like BMW are going to start doing over the air updates.
