Key Fob Battery Replacement
Okay, just a quick question to check before I get stuck in with the screwdrivers.
I need to replace the battery in my Passat key fob. The usual type - no key as such but it isn't the full blown keyless entry system. Anyone know how to get it open? Do I remove the little VW badge and look for a screw underneaath like on a "proper" VW key, or does it just lever open?
Also, anyone know what battery it has inside, so I can buy one before the surgery starts?
The manual, helpfully, says get the dealer to change the battery. Yeah, I'm going to drive there and back and wait half an hour for them to charge me an arm and a leg for a battery I can buy for a quid at Screwfix.
Re: Key Fob Battery Replacement
There might well be a "how to" on this, if not this has definitely been answered before.
Its easy anyway so I'll try to explain.
Remove the key by pressing the little button on the side of the silver part.
Once removed slide the whole silver part towards the side of above said little button.
Pull silver part up and off.
Whats left consists of two parts - pull these apart (perhaps use a flat head screwdriver to pry them apart)
Now change battery (a CR2032)
Job done

Re: Key Fob Battery Replacement
Many thanks guys.
Glad I got an answer, I'd have been at it for hours with ever bigger screwdrivers until I broke it in bits. This is a seriously cunning design!
