Slight noise at low speed - Big vibrations at high speed
Hi folks.
I noticed while crawling along in traffic the other day that my 2003 A4 Avant Quattro Sport was making a noise as if something was rubbing. i.e. every turn of the tyres would produce a noise. At speeds above 40 mph this develoves into a vibration through the whole car, and is so bad at 70mph that I cannot see anything in focus via the rear view mirror.
Its has had new pirrelli PZero Rosso tyres all round for three weeks and they have been superb, so I don't think it's a tyre issue.
It doesn't seem to be an engine issue either, as it vibrates as badly at highrevs/low revs/ free wheeling.
Does anyone have any ideas what is going on, and can anyone help me get to the bottom of this problem?
Cheers
Stu

was it there before tyres fitted ?

No it wasn't, however, The tyres have been on for three weeks now with no such problem untill the weekend!

Could have thrown a wheel balance weight...

1st off balanceing and tracking

Thanks to you all for your suggestions. It appears that my wheel nuts have slackened off after my new tyres being fitted!
I didn't realise that they should be checked after so many miles.
