Leicester Audi - Scratches after complimentary dealer wash
So I took my car in for its MOT at Leicester Audi where I also bought the car from, as usual they offered to vacuum and wash the car for me which I strongly advised not to bother with washing just a vacuum will do. The service manager noted my request on the job sheet.
I returned later in the evening to collect the car for it to be presented fully washed and vacuumed, I was clearly not happy and they new it. Having washed and polished the car myself a week before it wasn’t overly dirty in the first place and whatever process and products they used had clearly removed the applied polish.
On review of my dashcam the footage seems to show the car had likely been through a car wash they have on site around the back!
The final straw to this issue was the brand new rear bumper I had fitted just 3 weeks ago following a non fault insurance replacement now has fine scratches in various areas.
I raised the issue before I left the dealer and some workshop guy came out to have a look and said they would polish it out? This was an unmarked bumper until they attended to it. I left in utter frustration and disappointment and emailed the main service manager and awaiting feedback.

I'd burn the dealership to the ground!!
As that's not allowed these days, id leave it, take a vehicle of similar or higher spec ONLY and only accept yours back when its immaculate. I now leave a massive sign in the window saying DONT WASH as they don't care and are like chimps when it comes to washing a car. They have now taken to scratching my alloys instead. I now insist they inspect the car with me prior to leaving it

I used to work at a Vw dealer and would watch the valeter drop the sponge on the floor pick it back up and carry on ...used to cringe everytime. These valeters were paid not very much and had to wash as many as they could. If your car is in as a waiting job and a courtesy wash they were pressured into cleaning it even faster and that's when I see more than the usual drop of the sponge. ...a lot more grit in the paint.

Re: Leicester Audi - Scratches after complimentary dealer wash
Last year when I was picking up a part from Audi Bristol (Cribbs Causeway) there was a man in his 60's walking around a brand new A1 when I arrived, on leaving with my part I asked him what he was doing. He said his daughter was inside completing the paperwork for her new A1 and that the dealership had done a paint sealant due to the interior not being what she ordered, he asked me to walk around it and see if I noticed anything. I did and reported 22 scratches, some quite deep, he said he had counted 39!
He said he would raise it with the salesman and if it was his car he's refuse it, but that his daughter would probably still take it. Just then salesman and daughter came out and I saw the dad speaking to him, I was in my car by now and as I drove by I saw the salesman apply some spit to his thumb and attempt to rub one of the larger scratches!:1zhelp:
I just wondered if they'd employed either Liberace or Mr T to do the valet/sealant!?
I vowed never to have Audi do any cosmetic stuff, and as we all know such things are best left to a trained professional or it's a DIY job, yes time and patience and care are needed.

During the 9 year's I worked in Vag dealerships I saw 2 brand new vehicles arrive that had been severely damaged during transit both of these vehicles had hole's in the roof just above the a pillars where on the transporter the upper deck had been rubbing on the vehicle’s roof and created hole's. These vehicles are signed for by the dealership to state that they received them in acceptable condition. Obviously on these 2 occasions the sale's person never noticed and we had to have them repaired asap and both customers were never told. So always thoroughly check your new car.

Also the valeters are usually employed by a separate company other than the dealer's and the dealer's just go for the company that tenders the lowest price and well if you pay peanuts you get monkey's.

Re: Leicester Audi - Scratches after complimentary dealer wash
Thanks to all for the posts,
I wasn't expecting any replies but just needed to have a rant, still no answer from the service manager and I had to take the car as it was in my bad mood, as I had to get to London that evening.
Whatever they used to wash the car has striped away the polish and rain x I applied just last Sunday, forecast looks good tomorrow so I will be going over it again, the dirt and grime left in the door shuts is ridiculous.
I understand the car isn't going to be perfect but when someone else causes the damage its just another level, I was observing the smiles of others collecting their cars following the free wash and just jumping straight in and down the road, obviously don't care, I didn't even accept the complimentary service when I had company cars.
I'm unable to post the videos of the dashcam but as you can imagine its all very casual back of house, a place they certainly want to keep customers away from.
Re: Leicester Audi - Scratches after complimentary dealer wash
I've had a few cars damaged at dealerships and not Audi, the Jag dealer at Leicester scratched my few week old XF when it went in for warranty work. My recently purchased A6 Allroad had a few scratches on it on collection day but I kept my mouth shut and sorted them when I got home. Didn't want them making any worse!!
Re: Leicester Audi - Scratches after complimentary dealer wash
I'm only pursuing this as the bumper was unmarked and 3 weeks old and I told them not to touch it, taking it back on Friday so lets see what happens.
