Best way to glue Audi rings badge on?
Hi guys.
Ages ago my rear Audi rings badge fell off the boot of my car when someone was pushing me for a bump start ;) I've finally got around to getting a new badge from my local dealer. Here's the issue - they told me to simply wash off the grey residue that is still on my boot and simply peel back the plastic on my new badge and put it on firmly but I am not confident that this will work.
The reason for this lack of confidence is that there is a little part of the sticky already peeled back and it is hardly sticky at all. The other question I have is is the advice correct regarding cleaning off the old residue? And if so, what would you guys recommend?

The badge is self adhesive, ensure the surface is clean and dry.

Thank you. The Audi garage suggested using a hair dryer to get the residue off the boot. Any advantage to putting the new badge on when it's still warm as opposed to how cold it is right now?

Make sure the area is very clean. Wash with fairy liquid or similar to strip off any wax / polish that may be present. Rinse and dry very well before applying the decals. You can also use glue / tar remover to help remove the sticky residue. This is available from detailing shops etc.

a wipe with brake cleaner should remove the tack and ensure the surface is squeeky clean ready for the new badge.

Zippo type lighter petrol is good for removing glue.

Had success using Loctite glue remover. This product is not pricey also.
