I was driving back from Liverpool (Knowsley) to Leeds on Saturday, and when I got onto the M57 I was in the middle lane when I realised that I was only doing 65mph and not getting any quicker. I did have 4 people in plus some stuff in the boot so wondered if I'd just got into 5th too early, so changed down. There was a lot of noise and high revs but even with my foot to the floor I wasn't picking up any speed. It actually felt like I had the handbrake on, but no.
In the end I pulled over into the Hard Shoulder, switched off my engine, waited a short while and started the car again - and all was fine and I was able to enjoy the full 130bhp. Talking to a friend it sounds like my turbo may have stopped working properly (my other car's a Fabia SDI and in hindsight, it was pretty much the same as driving that in terms of what was under the foot). It's been fine since but I just wondered if there's anything I can do to check the turbo over or keep it in good nick, or whether I should be concerned? The A4 has 234k on the clock but drives flawlessly; this is the first issue I've had with it in the year since I bought it.
Cheers!
