16485
Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
Wife picked up the car after MOT & service and then noticed the warning light in the attached pic. Told her to take it back to garage to sort and they said something along the lines of they forgot to clear it after working on the car. They cleared it and all was good for another week then it came on again. This time I dug the vcds out and
"1 Fault Found:
16485
Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
Intermittent
P0101 35-10 Implausible signal
Readiness: 1 1 0 0 0
"
Looking this up on here and rosstech site there's a few things it could be but I'd rather have the garage sort it so wondered what the pros here think is most likely thing they've done given the air filter was changed as part of the service? Knocked the MAF sensor wiring, not fitted filter quite right?
I know we've never had this warning before on the car so I'm fairly certain it's something they've done and I'd be disappointed if I have to pay them to sort it.
I would appreciate what things people would do to be able to go back to the garage and say "look never had this before you guys have clearly caused this when you serviced it please sort it free of charge". Maybe print out the vcds log and take it along?
Any advice appreciated
Cheers

Weirdly the warning light has now gone out according to my wife. Said she set off with the handbrake on today and it came up with the warning "handbrake on" etc on the display but after the engine warning light had gone out?!
I'll get vcds out later this evening...
...sods law as booked it into garage tomorrow!

Re: 16485

Ha cheers yeah. Or maybe they're the best garage ever and can fix my car before I take it to them.
Ok so now my 16485 has been awarded the status of intermittent....
16485 Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
P0101 35 -10 Implausible signal
Intermittent
Readiness
0 1 0 0 0
What does that mean? Is there some sort of lifetime/timeout on the errors?
Still be useful to know what people think is most likely to have been done by garage during service to trigger this
Thanks

Re: 16485

prob a silly question---have you looked at Ross tech and inputed the fault code ?? I just had a look and there are a few wee things(easy fixes) that it might just be !!
Re: 16485
Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
check the air filter clean & cover is on correctly
change fuel filter
all on ross wiki page
Re: 16485
Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
Thanks for the replies. Buried in my essay above i've already found the Ross tech page and seen the suggestions. I think Niall's comment on the air filter cover might be best lead if it errors again. It has just had a service (fuel and air filters). As the fault has gone intermittent I guess that means the MAF readings have been ok for a period of time?
Anyways garage weren't overly interested when I turned up today with no warning light on, they did read the codes out and found the same (16485 intermittent). They said it could even be the sensor getting used to being able to breath again after the new air filter? If there is some long self calibration period maybe that's why it was cross at first but hasn't reported any 'implausible' readings since?
Thanks

Re: 16485

Take my advice & check that the new air filter is actually new !!!
Look at how the cover is fitted, is it on correctly ?
If the air filter & fuel filter are new, then I would be tempted to fit a new MAF .

I would allso take air fillter out and make sure that they cleand the snow trap-bug trap etc-usualy on inside at the sid of air box !!
