Polo 1.9tdi PD Blown turbo
hi all, My first post here
have a bit of a technical question
The turbo has blown on the polo, there is no doubt its the turbo its in bits, the compressor wheel has snapped off and killed the turbo
The turbo has stamped on the side part number 54431015083, it seems specific to the PD engines as alot of the turbos I've seen on ebay have a different connection on the inlet and outlet, my question is will a core from another turbo from the polo range fit
for fun here a pic of my dead turbo

struggling to find the code, sticker is missing from the boot, still wating on the V5 hopfully that will be here this week should be able to ge the code from that
Re: Polo 1.9tdi PD Blown turbo
A quick look on EuroCarParts shows 3 engine codes, well for the Skoda Fabia as you haven't told us what year your car is & the VW Polo doesn't have many years on it ..................
so looks like ASZ , AXR & BLT

2003 9N VW Polo 1.9 TDI Diesel Turbo Charger 54431015083 | eBay a quick google brings up this with your turbo number on ebay
no idea if it was sold or not
Re: Polo 1.9tdi PD Blown turbo
before doing anything you really need to know why the turbo self destructed like that as you dont want to repair it and have the same thing happen again. was it a cheap rubbish turbo thats been fitted or has the car been badly mapped ran out of oil or the oil feed pipe broken / blocked ??? are you going to rebuild it yourself though, just with a new core ? is there any damage to the housing, pretty inevitable really looking at it ?
Re: Polo 1.9tdi PD Blown turbo
all valid points, car is worth nothing, it was more of a fun project to try and get up and running, its one step away from the scrap yard which is getting closer as the only lead ive found on a turbo wont post and 500mile round trip to collect, the car simply isnt worth that sort of effort
I like fixing things, we have antother polo that lasted about a week after purchase, what do you expect for £100, turns out there were 22teeth missing from the cambelt, so was worth a shot to fit a new cambelt for £30 and see if we can save the car, lucky for me after a bit of trial and error the car is running and now in daily use, the intention was to repaired and sell it but then the 1.9 died so son is running around in the 1.4 giving me a chance to have a play on the 1.9
2003 is the year, eurocarparts are showing the turbo for engine code AXR,scrap that seen one for a AXR on ebay and its not the same

well it doesn't even say what engine code it came off, so it doesn't help
Re: Polo 1.9tdi PD Blown turbo
if you mean the ebay one, the part numbers tie up and it looks exactly like the one I have, Im still waitin on the V5 to confirm engine code, the seller has stuck that turbo up 3 times now so eventually he may find that offering postage may result in a sale, im only really after the core, might strip dowm my old one and see how easy removing the core is
