Do You have VCDS
I have noticed that a lot of the VCDS data available on the web is out of date and so incorrect for B6 Passat engines. E.g. most information on the web will tell you that a 1.9 pd engine idle speed should about 850 – 970 /min. This is not correct for the BKC 1.9 pd in a passat.
To try to improve information I want to collect VCDS engine data block info for Passat B6 diesels, 1.9 pd and 2.0 pd. Once I have enough info I will put the basic info on the web for us all to refer to. Eventually I will need logs for idle and 3000/min but at present I am only looking for idle logs.
To go with the log I must have year and engine code. Without that info the log is no good.
So, if you have VCDS, please do an idle log for your car and send me the data via the forum.
My intention is to end up with reference logs for different engine codes that we can refer to when looking for a fault. These logs must therefore come from cars with no known faults.
My first example:

I wish I knew what all that meant..I have no clue but when I get my car VCDS soon ill copy it here..hopefully someone can explain in time what it all means.

Well, having had my first play with VCDS to get the above for Martin I am amazed at the amount of info it displays. I would love to know more detail about what each value means but having said that the knowledge wouldn't be of much practical use as an average owner.
I notice that Group 29 above has no soot and wear values for my oil, perhaps thats a feature of me being on longlife servicing? (or it has no soot & wear!)
Pleased to see group 51 shows my camshaft is rotating at half engine speed; bit sorry for the BKC engine owner as his camshaft is a little slow:confused:;)
This sort of data is ripe for an analysis program which I guess is what VW dealers have?? Interesting stuff.

This is the sort of thing I am trying to find out about. My BKC on longlife has soot & wear figures but the other two logs don't have a value. That's why I need as many logs as possible.
