Another oil change price thread
I have been quoted £268 for an oil change for the 9,500 mile (4 months) oil change as the car came set on the shorter interval, which I was happy to keep as it feels better to have a shorter interval for the initial running in period. This breaks down to £117 for the oil, £17 for filter, washer etc, the remainder is labour.
On my last A6 (2012) I was able to get a service pack of 2 services, one oil, one major for £400, which was good value, but it is for cars over 3 years old only (Price is now £450). Add to this they no longer provide taxis as part of the courtesy service when you drop the car in, it all feels like less service for more money. They said they would price match another garage within 15 miles using Audi approved parts, but I don’t want to waste other people’s time just to get quotes.
However I have been on the Halfords website, and for an oil service using Manufacturer approved oils the September price is £120 (reduced by £15), so tempted to ask them to price match, Kwikfit is £124. Anyone else tried this given it barely covers the supposed cost of the oil?
Re: Another oil change price thread
They will price match any garage but need a written quote either on letter or email.
Which dealership are you using?
My local still does the taxi-ing and courtesy cars for free. They used to come to my house or work to pick and drop the car off as well.
Re: Another oil change price thread
I've used the price match before, with difficulty.
You must present a quote that 1) confirms AUdi approved parts, and 2) separates the price of parts and the price of labour.
Regarding the taxi, my local Audi dealer has courtesy cars available, and usually (read always so far) waives the £10 fee for insurance, so that's not a problem.
Re: Another oil change price thread
It's a bit crazy that the servicing price drops after 3 years - almost like you pay a premium to keep compliant with you 3 year warranty.
Had my BiTdi allroad oil change last week and it was £199 I think (I had some other bits done so paid more than that) - that's on the 9500 miles fixed servicing.
My dealership offers "collect from home" or if you give enough notice a relief car - last week was an s-Line 2.0 Tdi Ultra avant.
Re: Another oil change price thread
This is such a rip off. Sytner want £320 for the same service. I told them the JCT price, best they could offer is £25 discount, so still more expensive.
JCT tried to spin me that the oil they use is expensive, and the same as when the car came from the factory, and only they could get it. If thats the case whats the point of the VW505 (or whatever it is) specs on Castrol I can get for half the price for 8l and not 6.4L they provide. Service packs are only for 3 to 5 year old cars, which has no logic as an oil change is the same for new or 3 year+.
To do the price match they want full part numbers in writing from the other garage, so virtually impossible to provide, so its a hollow price match promise.
Its all a rip off

Was £199 including the vat, and which dealer?
thanks
Re: Another oil change price thread
On my 3.0L (272) it is set up with long life servicing and I used my local independent (who's an Audi Specialist) to give it an interim service at 9.5k miles using Audi oil and parts. Total cost £135. They didn't reset the computer, so it will ask for a service at 19k, when it will go to Audi.
Re: Another oil change price thread
That's what I'm doing. Filter was £9.98 inc VAT, oil £43. Get Audi to service it at 18k and I know the oil is nice and fresh every 9k.
Re: Another oil change price thread
This sounds like a sensible option, but will just delay me complaining about the price until the 19k service!
My computer is set to the shorter interval. I can change it with VCDS, which I did on my last A6, but would Audi have a record of it being on the shorter interval, and therefore the car won't correspond next time they see it?
Re: Another oil change price thread
Unless it's already been in or it's on a build sheet would they know or care?
BTW, get the oil from Opie, they do 5l service packs.
