Turbo gives up midway through journeys
Hi, new member and first time poster.
My 08 plate Golf Mk5 diesel started playing up last week when the turbo seemed to just cut out part way down the motorway. It went into limp mode and while it still drives, it goes next to nowhere and really struggles at about 40mph up any sort of gradient. When I turn the engine off and back on again, the turbo comes back but only for a short while before dying again.
I'd be happy to provide any more info you think is needed to diagnose this, but absolutely any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Re: Turbo gives up midway through journeys
It's probably the turbo vanes sticking & causing overboost.
But you do need a diagnosis with VCDS or similar diagnostics.
Have a look on the VCDS owners map on here & see if there is someone nearby who would check it for you for beer money.

Overboost, turbo rebuild time.

Okay, thanks for your help!
Re: Turbo gives up midway through journeys
I would recommend Turbo Technics as a source for quality re-manufactured turbos.
