Re: bora boot lid won't open
Hi there, i had exactly the same problem with my boot lid. When pressing the latch, the lock would make the noise of it releasing but wouldn't actually open. Its a bugger, but i had to climb inside the boot from the back seats and unscrew the boot lining. I then manually released the lock.
Now that the boot was open, i could see my lock mechanism had broken so i used some industrial strength super glue to solve it.......but it then broke again a few months on. So off to VW to order a new part, luckily it was pretty cheap and simple enough to do. I cant remember how much it cost, but im sure it was around the £20 mark.
Hope thats some help. Keep us posted.
PS: Im sure a similar post has been mentioned before so have a look in the archive area, im sure i remember somebody posting a useful photo guide on changing the rear boot lock mechanism.
Re: bora boot lid won't open
Thanks, yeah we had 2 climb into the boot and open it manually, there was a part with a plug in it which was snapped therefore not holding the plug securely, so we think this could be the problem, can you remember the name of the part that you replaced?
I've also read all the other threads about the bora boot we tried everything that was mentioned but to no avail!
Thanks for your help i'll keep you posted. :beerchug:
Re: bora boot lid won't open
Hooray we've found the problem, turned out that the wiring between the boot lid and the body got trapped in the hinge and severed it, just attached another piece of wire and hey presto i've got a working boot again! :beerchug:
