Front bumper and undertray damage - thoughts please!
Hi folks, my good lady had a bit of an altercation with a kerb this evening and whilst reversing back it has torn off the 2 undertrays and split the bumper at 2 of the fastening holes.
I’m going to try and get trays at a breaker before the weekend if anyone has any for sale ideally in Scotland please let me know - out of interest has anyone ever used the (American?) metal non oem ones?
I’m hoping to brace the bumper with thin sheet metal from behind using pop rivets the replace the trays, just wondering if the bumper is too bad to do this - think it should be ok. Ironically I have a lot of under tray fittings as this will be the second time in ownership it has happened! Arghhh!
I notice the front Anti roll bar bushes and drop links are very accessible- should I be doing them just now - are the bushes easy enough?
Total pain in the *** just wish I had my dream garage with lift!!!
Any feedback / suggestions welcome!
Re: Front bumper and undertray damage - thoughts please!
you can get new unbreakable under trays with all new screws for about £50 on ebay.. cant see the damage to the bumper pics too small.
Re: Front bumper and undertray damage - thoughts please!
I saw those but thought they look very flimsy and not provide much support
Re: Front bumper and undertray damage - thoughts please!
they dont provide support - its more control of air flow with a bit of noise reduction thrown in is it not?
Re: Front bumper and undertray damage - thoughts please!
Hmm not convinced, they look crap, the tray connects to the car and the bumper to the tray. In my bumpers weakened state I don’t think that type would work thanks for the suggestion though! Also the original would provide some form of protection / deflection for the sump particularly on the somewhat lower sline suspension.
