    ŠKODA has confirmed prices and specifications for the new Fabia Estate ahead of its debut in spring 2015. Available in three trim grades: S, SE and SE-L, the third-generation Fabia Estate is priced from just £12,460 and offers a significant specification boost over the outgoing model.
    Entry-level S models feature six airbags, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, Stop/Start and electric front windows as standard, while SE models (from £13,905 OTR) add manual air-conditioning, alloy wheels, Front assist, Arkamys surround sound package and Bolero radio with telephone control, Mirror Link, USB and SD card connections. SE models also include a three-spoke leather steering wheel, height adjustable driver and passenger seat, Maxi-DOT trip computer and black roof rails. Range-topping Elegance models (from £14,755 OTR) add even more features including 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control air-conditioning, Light assistant, cruise control and KESSY – keyless entry system.

    Today Porsche reveals the new Cayenne GTS, a model that announces its outstanding sporting character in its very name. The letters GTS go back to the famous 904 Carrera GTS of 1963. In 2007, the Cayenne GTS became the first Porsche of the modern era to revive the acronym.

    Since then, at Porsche ‘GTS’ has stood for notably enhanced levels of dynamics, performance and driver involvement. At the same time as the launch of the GTS, a new entry-level model with the familiar 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine rounds off the Cayenne portfolio at the start of the range.


    Porsche drivers like their car to be sporty – regardless of whether it has two doors or four. At 11 per cent, the GTS makes up a high proportion of the Cayenne model mix of what is currently the most successful range in the Porsche line-up, with the four-door sports cars for many years making a major contribution to the company's profitable growth. At the same time they ensure future investment in the broad spectrum of highly dynamic models offered across the entire portfolio.


    It is not only the name of the Cayenne GTS that is resonant. The 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine is the performance-oriented enhancement of the new power unit presented in the Cayenne S. Its consumption is lower and it delivers improved levels of performance.     The new ŠKODA Fabia has been awarded the maximum five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. The outstanding test results underline the high level safety of the new small car from ŠKODA, which is going to be launched in the first European markets in the next couple of days. The Euro NCAP rating is based on results for occupant protection for adults and children, pedestrian protection and safety assistance systems.


    “One of the aims of the new ŠKODA Fabia development was to bring top-level safety performance to the small car segment,” said ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development, Dr Frank Welsch. “The maximum five-star rating is confirmation by independent experts that we have achieved this goal and it shows that the new ŠKODA Fabia is one of the safest small cars in the market,” said Dr Welsch.

    Styling, safety, efficiency, equipment and power were all on the agenda for the team given the tough task of reworking the already highly successful Audi Q3, and the fruit of their labour is due to open for order in the UK later this month priced from £25,340 OTR. The further improved RS Q3 flagship, the output of which the team has boosted by an additional 30PS to give a total of 340PS, will become available in January 2015 and, like its ‘standard’ counterparts, is expected to reach its first UK customers next spring.


    Whether in SE, S line or top flight S line plus specification, the premium character of the redesigned Audi Q3 is apparent at first glance. The design with its coupe‑like lines and characteristic wrap-around tailgate has been lifted further by a striking new 3D effect Singleframe grille, revised bumpers and new look alloy wheels. The full body-colour paint finish which was previously standard for S line versions and above also now extends to SE models.

    ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ models offer outstanding levels of Porsche performance

    Porsche today announces the second generation of the 911 Carrera GTS, ahead of its arrival in showrooms this November. It will join the acclaimed Boxster GTS, Cayman GTS and Panamera GTS in the range of sports cars from Stuttgart.

    Each of the four new 911 Carrera GTS models – a Coupé and a Cabriolet, available with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive – build on the established core values of the iconic rear-engined 911 by adding further technical features to generate even higher levels of dynamic performance and driving enjoyment.


    Under the rear engine lid lies an evocative flat-six power unit, tuned to develop 430 hp, an increase of 30 hp over the Carrera S. This is combined with the Sport Chrono package offering dynamic engine mounts, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damper system which lowers the car's ride height by ten millimetres.


    Improved efficiency has also led to quicker acceleration and higher top speeds, and Combined fuel consumption figures remain unchanged from the favourable level of the S models. For example, when combined with the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) double-clutch gearbox, the 911 Carrera GTS can return 32.5 mpg and also sprint from zero to 62 mph in 4.0 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.2 seconds). With the standard seven-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, a top speed of 198 mph is possible.

    Volkswagen has come up with something more: the German car maker is showing the Passat GTE in a world premiere at the Paris Motor Show – the first Passat with a plug-in hybrid drive system.


    It is a zero-emission and long-distance vehicle in one and available as a saloon or estate. In GTE mode, the Volkswagen also has a sporty side. Plug-in hybrid, in this case, means the combination of a turbocharged direct injection petrol engine (TSI) with an electric motor, which is supplied with energy from an externally (or in Charge mode) chargeable lithium-ion battery. Thanks to this battery, the Passat GTE can cover a distance of up to 31 miles in all-electric mode and thus with zero emissions. At the press of a button next to the gear lever, the driver can also control the all-electric mode ("E-Mode") at will – for example, at the end of a drive when the destination is in a city.


    A contrast to the "E-Mode" is offered by the mode "GTE", which is also accessible at the press of a button – in this mode, the Passat delivers a maximum system output of 160 kW / 218 PS; a wide variety of parameters such as the accelerator pedal and steering are also configured in a sportier way in this mode.     Volkswagen Retailers in the UK will begin taking orders for the eighth generation Passat saloon and Estate models on 7 October, ahead of first UK deliveries in January, with prices starting from £22,215 (RRP OTR) for the entry-level saloon (see below for full details).
    This all-new car brings a host of new technologies, comfort and convenience features and efficient engines to the Passat class, while its design, quality and style allow it to compete with premium rivals, at a competitive price.
    Although the new car has a longer wheelbase than its predecessor and more interior space, it is up to 85 kg lighter, while EU6-compliant, more efficient engines mean fuel savings and carbon dioxide emissions reductions of up to 14 per cent.
    Only diesel engines will be offered in the UK at launch, ranging in power from a 1.6-litre 120 PS, through two 2.0-litre units with 150 or 190 PS, to a range-topping 2.0-litre bi-turbo with 240 PS, DSG gearbox and 4MOTION four-wheel drive. A plug-in hybrid GTE version with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine and electric motor will follow in October 2015.
    At launch, five trim levels will be offered: S, SE, SE Business, GT and R-Line. All will offer a high level of standard features with highlights including Post-Collision Braking System and mis-fuelling prevention on all; Front Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Crash system, Driver Profile Selection, Ergo Comfort seats and front and rear parking sensors on SE and above; and Discover Navigation on the SE Business which is aimed at fleet drivers. ...
