    Found the problem! One of the kids had turned the air con in the back to 16 degrees and it was blowing so hard it was keeping the engine running to compensate.

    My car developed a coolant leak earlier this year. Turned out to be the EGR valve leaking, its common apparently and not cheap to fix. 3.0L TDI.

    Very smokey, why not take to a mot station and ask would it pass the emissions and have a smoke meter reading. Then you will have some ammo to go back

    Yes, quite likely water incursion. Or a shaky antenna out of the factory. Antennas are not entirely "simple" - they are more than just a piece

    I think water gets into the seal and corrodes the insides.....

    i bought a hockey puck style off Ebay for £6 and located it up above the glovebox.

    This went on mine as well, noticed when driving the power steering was heavy, then steam when stopped.
