Detail changes to the executive class Saloon, Avant and five-door Sportback ranges enhance styling, connectivity and comfort

    • New highlights for exterior, interior and equipment
    • Even more connectivity and entertainment features
    • A6 Saloon 2017 Model Year pricing from Ł32,995 OTR, Avant from Ł35,095
    • S6 from Ł57,215 OTR, RS 6 Avant from Ł79,505 OTR
    • A7 Sportback 2017 Model Year pricing from Ł46,865 OTR
    • S7 Sportback from Ł64,380 OTR, RS 7 Sportback from Ł85,485 OTR
    • UK ordering from May, first deliveries in the summer

In the spirit of ‘never standing still’ which is a key tenet of Vorsprung durch Technik, Audi is making some detail changes to its executive class A6 and A7 Sportback ranges. Carefully considered styling refinements enhance the perennially popular A6 Saloon and Avant lines, while all models benefit from interior upgrades and new equipment. UK order banks for the latest A6 and A7 Sportback models and their S and RS counterparts will open in May and deliveries will start in the summer.

The basis for the newly updated A6 and A6 Avant ranges is a new SE Executive specification level, which replaces the entry level SE option available up to this point. It ushers in a new, bolder look courtesy of a new front apron incorporating more pronounced air inlets with gloss black horizontal struts, more sculpted side sills and a restyled rear bumper now housing a new diffuser at its lower edge.

The already more sporting stance struck by the S line and top flight Black Edition models has also been subtly enhanced by a new

    • Landmark day for Golf GTI as order books open for GTI Clubsport Edition 40
    • Most potent GTI to date with up to 290 PS; 0-62 mph in 6.3 seconds
    • Special edition model priced from Ł30,875 (RRP OTR)

‘Iconic’ is, perhaps, a word bandied around all too freely but, when applied to the mould-breaking Golf GTI, it can be used with genuine justification. The car that popularised the ‘hot hatch’ phenomenon is 40 years old in 2016 and, to mark the occasion, Volkswagen has created the most potent iteration of the GTI to date.

Available to order in Volkswagen UK Retailers now, the specially commissioned Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40 celebrates four decades of a true automotive icon.

Powering this addition to the GTI range is a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection engine that delivers 265 PS, making it the most powerful Golf GTI yet. But that’s not the whole story. Accelerate hard in third gear or higher and, for up to 10 seconds, an additional ‘overboost’ function increases the engine power to 290 PS.

The engine – which delivers its 265 PS between 5,350 and 6,600 rpm – is technically based on the 1,984 cc TSI engine that appears in the award-winning Golf R. This is a third generation EA 888 unit boasting technical refinements such as a water-cooled exhaust channel to the turbocharger that is integrated in the cylinder head, and variable valve timing with dual camshaft adjustment. Maximum torque, under boost, is 350 Nm.

In the new Golf GTI Clubsport Edition 40 this power is channelled entirely to the front wheels via either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed DSG. The lightweight front-wheel drive system that is typical of the Golf GTI offers tremendous agility, working as it does in conjunction

One-off six-seater Audi limousine took almost a year to develop and finesse to the same exacting standards as a production-ready A8

    • Premium manufacturer develops and builds 6.36-metre luxury saloon to special customer order
    • Comfortable and spacious seating for six
    • Wheelbase extended by almost 1.1 metres over the A8 L, with a completely reworked outer skin starting from the A-pillar backwards
    • Additional use of aluminium to lengthen and strengthen the Audi Space Frame

Audi has gone to even greater lengths to deliver all of the familiar trappings associated with its flagship A8 L model in an entirely unique format of considerable proportions. At the special request of a European customer, the premium brand has created the Audi A8 L extended, a built-to-order model measuring 6.36 metres (20.9 ft) in length and with a wheelbase of 4.22 metres (13.8 ft). The A8 L extended affords exquisite comfort for passengers occupying all of its six seats. Audi has further requests for the custom product already.

Experts invested almost a year in developing and building the exceptionally long luxury saloon. The result was an exclusive one-off specimen that meets the high standards of the production model in every domain. The major challenges concerned the safety and rigidity of the extra-large body, as well as the styling of the silhouette.

The Audi A8 L extended benefits from the low weight of the production model’s body, which uses an Audi Space Frame design and is made almost entirely from aluminium. For the built-to-order version the engineers

    • SEAT set to stir up compact SUV market with temptingly priced Ateca
    • SEAT’s first SUV to be keenly priced from Ł17,990 to Ł29,990 on-the-road
    • Four trim levels at launch, including limited ‘First Edition’ which will be confirmed in May
    • Choice of five engines: two petrol and three diesel, ranging in power from 115 PS to 190 PS. Six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG-auto transmissions available, plus four-wheel-drive with both 2.0 TDI diesel engines
    • Orders already flooding in for Ateca in several of SEAT’s key European markets, before first cars have even arrived in showrooms
    • Available to order from 3rd May 2016, ahead of UK showroom launch on 9th September

Following its highly acclaimed world debut at the Geneva motor show just a few weeks ago, SEAT has confirmed full UK pricing and specification for its first SUV, Ateca. Temptingly priced from only Ł17,990, the Barcelona-based marque is looking to make quite an impact in the UK’s compact SUV market.

Which, judging by the initial signs for SEAT’s latest creation, staking its claim in the fast-growing segment shouldn’t be too difficult. For starters, in several key European markets, including France and Germany, where ordering has already opened, Ateca is already proving quite a hit, even before customers have got behind the wheel.

Another good omen, and a possible reason behind the eagerness to snap one up, lies with initial media reaction to the car. In the UK alone, media pundits have already begun showering it with praise, just on the basis of prototype drives. Auto Express magazine hailed Ateca as an “impressive piece of kit”,
while the Daily Telegraph hyped it up further with “in September, SEAT dealers will be

    • The Volkswagen Beetle Dune is available to order from 5 April
    • Stylish new Dune combines classic Beetle style with off-road ruggedness
    • Prices start at Ł21,300 (RRP OTR), with petrol and diesel engines available

The Volkswagen Beetle is renowned as an automotive style icon with, perhaps, the most well-known silhouette of any modern car. Original Beetles have been modified in small numbers over the years to suit specialist drivers’ requirements and among the most famous of these are the ‘Baja Bugs’ vividly associated with west coast America.

Now the spirit of those original conversions is rekindled in the modern Beetle range with the UK showroom debut of the exciting new Beetle Dune. Engineered and styled to pay tribute to those off-road heroes, and with a ride height raised 10 mm compared with the standard car, the Beetle Dune is designed to offer a vibrant new dimension to the existing Beetle line-up.

Available to order from 5 April through the Volkswagen UK Retailer network, the Beetle Dune’s rugged looks are enhanced via 18-inch ‘Mythos’ alloy wheels, front and rear wheelarch extensions and bold new bumper designs.

Beetle Dune customers have a choice of Coupe or Cabriolet versions and deliveries of both will begin in June, while a selection of five body colours complement the car’s eye-catching styling. The Sandstorm Yellow metallic and Dark Bronze metallic, in particular, have been developed exclusively for the Beetle Dune. Other colour options include Deep Black pearlescent, Black (non-metallic) and Pure White (non-metallic). Parts of the dash and door panels

    • VisionS concept car takes ŠKODA into a larger SUV segment for first time
    • Director-level company car drivers fuel SUV growth
    • ŠKODA looks to build on fleet successes of Octavia and Superb

ŠKODA will further strengthen its appeal among senior level company car drivers when its first A+ SUV is introduced, new research confirms.

Unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show, the VisionS concept car gave the world a strong steer on ŠKODA’s hotly-anticipated new large SUV and was met with rave reviews, particularly for its “sleek, chiselled and elegant”* styling.

When the production version is revealed later in 2016, it will excite company bosses across the UK, afteran in-depth study of the fleet market** by ŠKODA revealed that director-level company car drivers (39%) are more than twice as likely to choose SUVs than their more junior counterparts (19%).

With SUVs now the biggest-selling model of car in Europe, growing by around 25%*** last year in the UK, ŠKODA’s next major line-up addition looks set to draw in even more customers.

Henry Williams, Head of Fleet for ŠKODA UK, commented:“We had a record year of fleet sales in 2015, with the all-new Superb proving a major hit for its outstanding design, technology, practicality and value for money. This complemented the existing popularity of our other models such as the Octavia.

“However, the new A+ SUV – which will take cues from the VisionS concept car – sees ŠKODA enter an entirely different vehicle category. We

Top honour is bestowed on all-new Audi super sports car at New York International Auto Show

The Audi R8 Coupé has been crowned “2016 World Performance Car” in the World Car Awards, which were presented this week during the New York International Auto Show.

With a total of four awards, the Audi R8 is the most successful model in the history of the World Car Awards. The predecessor to the R8 had already taken home two World Performance Car awards and a World Car Design of the Year award in the prestigious competition.

Now the second generation of the high-performance sports car from Audi was able to win over the international jury of 73 leading automotive journalists. This makes the Audi R8 a winner – on the road as well as on the racetrack.

“With its distinctive design, its driving dynamics and its closeness to racing, the R8 is one of the strongest calling cards for the four rings and is the flagship car from Audi Sport. The first generation of the R8 paved our way toward becoming a premium brand and raised the aura of Audi to a new level. The new R8 will continue this success story and further accelerate the growth strategy of Audi Sport,” said Dietmar Voggenreiter, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG.

The Audi R8 Coupé offers more performance than any other Audi production model. The mid-mounted V10 and newly developed quattro drive offer extraordinary driving performance. The top version, with 610PS, sprints from 0 to 62mph in just 3.2 seconds and can continue to a 205mph maximum

    • Ordering expected to open in late April – pricing and specification to be confirmed at the same timewith first deliveries in June
    • 2.0 TFSI with 252 PS will be the first engine to adopt quattro with ultra technology – more manual and S tronic Audi models will benefit in the future
    • Permanently available all-wheel drive anticipates optimal power distribution
    • Three stages of activation ensure no perceptible change from FWD to AWD
    • quattro drivetrain with ultra technology saves 4 kg in weight

The same composure, controllability and reassurance with major efficiency gains – that was the goal during the development of an entirely new version of the legendary Audi quattro all-wheel drive system, and the all-new A4 allroad quattro is the first in line to reap its benefits.

The newly developed, permanently available quattro system with ultra technology will soon become available to order in the UK, initially in conjunction with the 252PS version of the 2.0-litre TFSI engine powering the latest A4 allroad. Three other TDI engine variants in the A4 allroad range will also open for order at the end of April, with first deliveries scheduled to begin in June.

Designed for Audi models with longitudinally installed engines, the revolutionary new technology delivers tangible benefits in terms of both fuel efficiency and CO2 output during every journey. Fundamentally, the system deactivates all-wheel drive when it is not needed, but ensures that it is also permanently and instantaneously available, significantly reducing the potential fuel consumption difference

    • ź40 years of GTI: TCR version for the racetrack, Golf GTI Club sport for the road
    • Production-based touring car to be delivered to teams mid-March
    • All 20 Golf GTI TCRs developed by Volkswagen Motorsport already taken

The new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR has the seal of quality in its name: 40 years after the launch of the first Golf GTI, the customer sports version also possesses the acronym that, since 1976, has been synonymous with the Wolfsburg-based car maker’s sporting character, powerful engines and maximum performance. Since it was first unveiled in July 2015, the Golf GTI TCR has been hugely popular on the racetrack: all the customer sports models for the 2016 season had already been snapped up by mid-January. The teams can field the 20 cars, which were developed by Volkswagen Motorsport, in up to 16 national and international TCR touring car championships. The cars for the international TCR championship are to be handed over to the customer sports teams from 11th March in Abrera/Barcelona (E). An initial roll-out with the opposition is planned for the test drives at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia (E) from 14th March.

Dynamic appearance: production-based Golf GTI TCR embodies racing genes

The acronym GTI stands for Gran Turismo Injection and is more than just a seal of quality – it is a trademark and an identity. Even to look at, the Golf makes no secret of its motor racing genes: 18-inch racing rims, a chassis that is roughly 40 centimetres wider than the production Golf, and a striking rear wing also guarantee optimal handling. An aerodynamic front splitter and carbon rear wing are among the modifications
