common fault for 2.0tdi engine

Sorry but the oil pump is driven from the secondary balancer shaft by the notorious 6-mm hex key, the chain drives the primary balancer (oil pump to right of chain sprocket, hex key in dead centre with circlip)



But the chain can strip the crank sprocket or break its tensioner



The primary balancer drives the second balancer by transfer gears and then into the oil pump by a broached 6-mm (well ish 6-mm) bore



The replacement, oil pump on the right of the gear
