    • The name combines the ‘E’ for electric mobility with the characteristic ‘Q’ of ŠKODA’s SUV family
    • ŠKODA Enyaq: name derives from the Irish name ‘Enya’, meaning ‘source of life’
    • First ŠKODA model to be based on the modular electrification toolkit (MEB)

Enyaq is the name of ŠKODA’s first electric SUV based on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB). With its first all-electric SUV, ŠKODA is establishing a new naming convention that combines the ‘E’ in reference to electromobility and the ‘Q’ characterising the final letter of ŠKODA’s successful SUV family.

The name of the new ŠKODA Enyaq is derived from the Irish name ‘Enya’, meaning ‘source of life’. Enya itself comes from the Irish Gaelic word ‘Eithne’, meaning ‘essence’, ‘spirit’ or ‘principle’. These different meanings allow different perspectives on the name of ŠKODA’s new SUV. The ‘source of life’ symbolises the start of a new era as the car manufacturer enters into electromobility.

Enyaq follows ŠKODA’s well-known SUV names

In line with ŠKODA’s successful SUV models, Kodiaq, Karoq and Kamiq, the ‘Q’ at the end creates a clear connection to the brand’s SUV line-up.

The ŠKODA Enyaq is the Czech brand’s first series-production vehicle based on the Volkswagen Group’s Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB) and the next of the series of more than ten electric models that will be launched under the ŠKODA iV sub-brand by the end of 2022. By 2025, ŠKODA expects all-electric vehicles and models with plug-in hybrid ...

    • Further details on new Audi EV hub at www.audi.co.uk/electric

As the groundswell of demand for electric mobility builds Audi is moving to make its growing EV and PHEV ranges ever more accessible through new models like the e-tron 50, which is now available for UK ordering priced from Ł59,900 OTR. The new variant, which joins the line-up alongside the continuing e-tron 55 quattro, combines its strong performance, WLTP-ratified range of up to 190 miles and 30-minute charging capability (to 80 per cent capacity) with new Technik, Sport and S line specification options that sit below the most lavishly equipped Launch Edition.

“This new version of the e-tron opens up the possibility of driving ultra-economically and with zero local emissions to a wider customer base,” says Director of Audi UK Andrew Doyle. “Our research has shown that on a daily basis many prospective buyers will cover
significantly less than the 190-mile maximum achievable in the e-tron 50 on a full charge, so for them this more accessible yet no less accomplished variant makes perfect sense. It is also notable for introducing attractive ...

    • Match replaces SE in Polo range with value boost and extra equipment
    • Tinted windows, new alloy wheels and fog lights included in new trim
    • Polo is second best-seller for Volkswagen in the UK, after Golf

The Volkswagen Polo has been invigorated with the addition of a Match trim level, adding a host of extra equipment over the award-winning Polo SE which it replaces, with only a minor revision in price.

Replacing the second-tier SE trim in the Polo range, Match adds 15-inch ‘Seyene’ alloy wheels, front fog lights, rear tinted-windows, and front and rear parking sensors – equipment which, if specified as options on the Polo SE, would cost Ł980.

As per the outgoing SE, the Polo Match gets three engine and gearbox configurations – all 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol units. The 80 PS EVO engine is available with a five-speed manual, while the 95 PS turbocharged unit can be combined with a five-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG transmission. Low running costs are promised by both engines, with WLTP-certified CO2 emissions of 125 - 139 g/km, while fuel economy on the combined WLTP cycle ranges from 42.8 to 51.4 mpg.

The Polo Match starts at Ł16,465 RRP OTR for the 80 PS variant, which represents a Ł785 value boost over the outgoing SE version given the generous amount of standard equipment and small price rise of Ł200.

The additional equipment on the Match bolsters the already plentiful package offered in the outgoing SE trim level, with standard-fit items including Car-Net App Connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.0-inch ...

    • New Golf GTD engine unites high performance with maximum efficiency
    • Twin dosing with two SCR catalytic converters to greatly reduce NOx emissions
    • Charismatic design of new Golf GTD1) reflects its dynamism and self-confidence

Volkswagen will celebrate the world premičre of the Golf GTD at the Geneva International Motor Show from 5 to 15 March. Among the technical highlights is the most powerful and thanks to twin dosing cleanest turbo diesel injection (TDI) engine ever to be installed in a Golf. It harmonises the confident dynamism of the Golf GTD together with higher efficiency and lowest emissions. The charismatic design of the Golf GTD reflects a unique combination of dynamism and self-confidence.

The diesel top-of-the-range version, based on the new eighth generation of the Golf, will carry the long tradition of the GTD into the future. In 1982, Volkswagen presented the very first Golf GTD. At that time, Volkswagen brought new excitement into the compact class with its turbo diesel and other equally sporty features, like in the Golf GTI Mk1. And almost four decades later, this same dynamic concept is still going strong: Once again, Volkswagen will introduce one of the most economical and at the same time sporty compact models to the market with its Golf GTD. A significant increase in performance is accompanied by lowest emissions: The Performance TDI’s efficiency has been significantly optimised and CO2 emissions have been cut even further, all while simultaneously improving responsiveness.

Camouflaged versions of new Audi compact hatchback tackle a course also used for the Azores rally to demonstrate latest quattro technology

    • quattro-equipped versions of all-new compact hatchback showcase the latest evolution of the world renowned technology
    • Quick-witted: progressive steering with a variable ratio
    • No need to compromise on agility or comfort: adaptive damper control

Roads considered challenging enough to be a test of mettle for thoroughbred competition cars on the Azores rally have been chosen to provide a baptism of fire for the quattro system underpinning the all-new Audi A3. Journalists have been able to assess the dynamic capabilities of all-wheel-drive versions of the advanced new compact hatchback on these roads, which snake around the island of Săo Miguel in Portugal’s Azores archipelago, ahead of the car’s world public debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

    Pure emotion: the original thought

In a place where volcanoes once created a whole chain of islands and where there is a high level of volcanic activity, Audi is demonstrating the core of its DNA: quattro drive. The all-wheel drive system fittingly makes its first appearance in one of the most emotive versions of the fourth generation A3, and represents the latest stage in the evolution of this successful technology, which in Audi models with transverse engine installations is based around an electro-hydraulic multi‑plate clutch.

Managed by precisely tuned software, the system not only maximises stability, grip, and driving pleasure, but is also extremely efficient. Supported by the adaptive suspension and the progressive steering, it delivers composed, surefooted and incisive ...
