    • Bentley Bentayga ready for Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
    • Six-month development programme completed
    • Bentayga targets poduction SUV record
    • Two-time champion Rhys Millen confident of high performance

After a six-month preparation and development programme, a race-ready Bentley Bentayga is in Colorado and ready to take on the 96th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this weekend.

Along the exceptionally challenging 12.42-mile course, which features 156 corners and a 4,720 ft climb, the Bentayga will have to average a minimum of 60 mph to achieve its target – to claim the outright Production SUV record. Tackling the challenge will be two-time overall
Pikes Peak champion Rhys Millen, whose race team has been working tirelessly with Bentley Motorsport this year to prepare the car for “The Race to The Clouds”.

The combination of 600 bhp engine, adaptive air suspension and 48V electric active anti-roll control makes the Bentayga the perfect challenger for the SUV record. As a competitor in the Production class, minimal changes have been permitted. The car features a roll cage, fire suppression system and racing seat, plus new tyres selected from Pirelli’s DOT-marked range. Around 300 kg of interior trim has been temporarily removed for the event as stipulated by the rules, but in all other respects the Bentayga is a standard W12-powered production car. A sports exhaust from Akrapovic completes the specification of the car, which is finished in eye-catching Radium Satin paintwork and Bentley’s Styling Specification ...

Smallest Audi in the portfolio grows in stature and in sophistication with totally new look and numerous technologies from the larger models

    • Available for UK order from September, first UK deliveries November
    • Completely new design from the ground up
    • New TFSI engine range offering up to 200PS
    • Infotainment concepts from the full-size class
    • New driver assistance systems for more safety and comfort
    • Two striking Launch Edition models available in the first phase

Since 2010 Audi has been compressing all that it stands for into the A1 - a premium subcompact hatchback that has the measure of the urban environment but is also fit to go the distance - and the all-new second generation of this diminutively proportioned yet immensely successful entry point into the Audi brand is now waiting in the wings. Available exclusively as a five-door Sportback, the latest car features dynamic new styling that combines absolute modernity with classic detailing drawn from the brand-defining Ur quattros of the Eighties, and complements it with infotainment and driver assistance systems on a par with the contemporary full-size class.

Exterior design: Striking, purposeful with genes of the Ur-quattro

The A1 Sportback has grown significantly in length – extended by 56 millimetres, it now measures 4.03 metres. At the same time, its width has remained almost the same at 1.74 metres, while at just 1.41 metres high (excluding its aerial) it retains a low-slung stance which is emphasised further by the wide track and short overhangs. The wide, low-placed Singleframe grille and the implied side air inlets dominate the distinctive front, above which are three flat bonnet slits which pay homage to the Sport quattro, the brand’s rally icon from 1984.

The new A1 Sportback also gives a nod to its Audi Ur-quattro and Sport quattro ancestry when viewed from the side: The wide, ...

THE AUDI Q8 – THE NEW LUXURY FLAGSHIP IN THE Q RANGE

Striking five-seat SUV with coupé styling makes its world debut in China at the second Audi Summit

    • Expressive design with new Singleframe and features from the original Audi quattro
    • Generous, elegant interior, touch operated screens and high-tech navigation
    • Available at launch as a six-cylinder 50 TDI with 286PS, capable of 62mph in 6.3 seconds and a 144mph top speed
    • S line specification includes HD Matrix LED lights, 21-inch alloy wheels and adaptive air suspension sport as standard
    • High-end Vorsprung edition due shortly after launch gains Valcona leather, dynamic all-wheel steering, 22-inch alloy wheels, head-up display and a full leather package as standard
    • UK introduction scheduled for summer 2018

Prestige, presence and impeccable Audi quality in every detail: the all-new Q8 is ready to combine the best of both worlds by offering the elegance of a four-door luxury coupé and the convenient versatility of a large SUV. Remaining faithful to the dramatic styling of the original Q8 Sport concept first revealed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the series production car will join UK roads this summer featuring a generously dimensioned interior with a variable luggage compartment, state-of-the-art drive and suspension technologies and intelligent assistance systems that make it a convincing companion for business and leisure.

A strong yet efficient 3.0 TDI with a mild hybrid system provides the dynamics which are implied by the muscular exterior design. With the permanent quattro all-wheel drive and a ground clearance of up to 254 mm, the SUV coupé can continue when paved roads end.

At 4,986 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,705 mm high, the new Audi Q8 exudes a presence on the road like no other SUV from the brand with the four rings. With its coupé-style roof line it appears much lower than its Q7 sister model. It is 66 mm shorter, but has become 27 mm wider. The distinctive front end, the short rear overhang and the mighty 21-inch wheels with a diameter of 795 mm paint a picture of powerful dynamics. In the UK, S line specification that is equipped with a host of standard features ranging ...

    • PAS 300 certified civilian armoured Superb Estate developed by ŠKODA UK
    • Based on standard Superb Estate 2.0 TDI 190PSThree-year development and engineering project for British based team
    • Extensively modified body plus upgraded suspension and brakes
    • On-the-road price from £118,688
    • Watch the armoured Superb in action here: YouTube

ŠKODA is already known for its ability to build fantastically strong, safe and reliable cars. But now, following three-years of planning, development and testing, ŠKODA has added to its award-winning range with the addition of a bullet and blast-resistant version of the Superb Estate.

The armoured Superb is the end result of a joint venture project between ŠKODA and a UK-based convertor. Following three years of development is a finished model that is virtually indistinguishable from the standard production car yet offers bullet and blast protection to occupants.

Protection is provided by a combination of bullet-resistant glass, high strength steel and composite materials; yet despite this the fully armoured Superb retains its spacious five-seater layout cabin, large boot and acclaimed build quality.

The armoured car is based on a standard 2.0 TDI 190PS Superb Estate. Although exact details of the conversion must remain secret, the passenger cell has been reinforced to the extent that it meets PAS 300 requirements for ballistic and blast protection. This certification was carried out by an independent test facility and involved firing different types of ammunition ...

    • Technical solution has been identified
    • Recall campaign to start within the next few weeks
    • Safety remains top priority for Volkswagen

Volkswagen has confirmed a technical issue on the new Polo (model year 2018). There is the possibility that in rare situations (e.g. sudden quick lane changes with five passengers on board) and when the rear center seat and the rear left seat are occupied at the same time, the left seat belt lock could be unintentionally released. At Volkswagen safety remains a main priority and the brand has identified a technical solution: a redesigned belt lock fixture, which will prevent this from happening.

Volkswagen Polo is legally homologated and safe to drive; however the brand advises its customers not to use the middle seat of the new Polo until the car will be equipped with the redesigned belt lock fixture. Volkswagen is now addressing the concerned authorities for their final validation in order to implement the solution, both on vehicles in the market as well as on the future series production.

Within the next few weeks, Volkswagen will start a recall campaign. Customers will receive a letter so as to plan an appointment with a Volkswagen service partner. The check, as well as the implementation of the redesigned belt lock fixture will be free of charge. ...

    • Speed of 264 km/h: from now on, the Golf GTI TCR, which is derived from motor racing, will be the fastest GTI of the model range
    • 290 PS: the future series version is expected to start production at the end of 2018 with 7-speed-DSG, locking differential and individual design

A new chapter of Golf GTI history has begun with the world première of the 213 kW / 290 PS
1 Golf GTI TCR Concept. Jürgen Stackmann, Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, has unveiled the road version of the racing car of the international TCR series of the same name. The première took place today at the legendary GTI meeting at Reifnitz am Wörthersee, Austria. Jürgen Stackmann: "At the moment, the Golf GTI TCR Concept – an athlete derived from racing sport – is a study. But at the end of the year, we want to make this GTI vision come true."

The design, power and performance of the Golf GTI TCR Concept follow pure sports car doctrine. The power of the 370 Nm-strong turbocharged engine is transmitted to the front wheels from only 1,600 rpm as standard via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and a locking differential. The top speed of the standard version will be 250 km/h, but this can be increased to 264 km/h by opting to remove the electronic Vmax limiter, making this Golf the fastest GTI of the current model range.

Numerous individual features contribute to the particularly sporty character of the new Volkswagen. The future standard version will leave the Wolfsburg plant with 18-inch “Belvedere” forged wheels; 19-inch alloy wheels will also be available as an option. ...

    • Four suspension configurations, dynamic all-wheel steering optional
    • Navigation, infotainment and assistance systems – fully connected
    • Scheduled to become available for UK ordering this summer

Avant is the Audi byword for grace under pressure – it stands for intrinsic elegance combined with optimal adaptability to the demands of everyday life – and the perennially popular format returns to the A6 range this month. The new Audi A6 Avant not only integrates a 1,680-litre maximum luggage capacity into its flowing lines more seamlessly than ever, but also takes on board standard mild hybrid drive, a wealth of new technology including the fully digital MMI touch response operating system and a broad spread of state-of-the-art driver assistance options.

Aesthetics and functionality – the exterior design

With sharp lines, large surfaces and the distinctive low-profile rear window, the look of the new Audi A6 Avant exemplifies the brand’s new design language. A wide, low Singleframe grille dominates the front, while the elongated silhouette and trapezoidal window surfaces dominate the side view. Distinctively shaped blisters, which visually emphasise the quattro drive, extend over the wheel housings. The muscular roofline flows into the low-profile D-pillar, beyond which is a roof edge spoiler that extends the silhouette and complements the athletic stance. At the rear, a decorative trim provides a link between the lights.

A total of twelve paint colours will be available, and in the UK it will initially be possible to combine these ...
