    • Ground-breaking Three-Dimensional Wood rear door inserts available for first time in all-new Flying Spur
    • Each panel handcrafted from a single block of sustainable American Walnut or American Cherry timber
    • Striking open pore veneer enhanced with a three-dimensional surface finish consisting of 150 unique veneered diamonds
    • Unique design first seen in EXP 10 Speed 6 concept in 2015
    • Showcases Bentley’s combination of traditional materials with modern manufacturing techniques

Bentley is offering a ground-breaking new Three-Dimensional Wood rear door trim for the first time, launched today for the all-new Flying Spur. Three-Dimensional Wood is a world-first for the automotive sector – a striking, diamond-shaped pattern enhanced with a three-dimensional surface finish machined directly into the wood.

The new option is one of the unique veneer choices from the Bentley Mulliner ‘Collections’ and forms a contemporary luxury design statement, bringing tactility to the natural beauty of wood. Each rear door and quarter panel is handcrafted from a single block of sustainable American Walnut or American Cherry timber, in a harmonious marriage of traditional skills and modern technology.

The concept for 3D-machined wood was first shown in Bentley’s EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015, and received wide acclaim. The distinctive feature was inspired by the form of leather used for the diamond-quilted areas in Bentley’s Mulliner
Driving Specification interior suite. Three-Dimensional Wood required 18 months of production development by expert technical craftsmen before Bentley Mulliner could ...

    • Exclusive items distinguish interior and exterior of the trio
    • Equipment and price point equate to up to Ł1,760 of added value

The Polo, T-Cross and T-Roc models have been bolstered with new, equipment-rich, UNITED edition trims. The UNITED models are distinguished by subtle badging, and bring bespoke styling, extra equipment and significantly increased value.

The on-the-road recommended retail prices for the UNITED edition models start at Ł17,350 for the Polo, Ł20,410 for the T-Cross, and Ł23,550 for the T-Roc. Prices for UNITED editions are below those of the Match and SE cars on which they are based, and with equipment factored in these new editions represent a value boost of up to Ł1,760, depending on model and engine.

UNITED cars – across all three models – receive bespoke UNITED badging and door sill protectors, ‘Dublin’ alloy wheels in 15-inch, 16-inch or 17-inch sizes, depending on the vehicle, voice control function and a Winter Pack – comprising heated front seats and a low washer fluid warning light. Additionally, the T-Cross and T-Roc benefit from a set of heated windscreen washer jets, while the Polo receives the bonus of an 8.0-inch Discover Navigation touch ...

    • Digital OLEDs debut in Audi Q5
    • New taillight designs due to extended segmentation
    • Benefits: greater homogeneity, efficiency, compactness, safety and personalisation

In June 2020, the next generation of a lighting technology premiered in the Audi Q5: digital OLED technology. With organic light-emitting diodes (so-called OLEDs), Audi was a pioneer as far back as in 2016. Now digitalisation is ringing in a new age. This technology promises to improve road safety and is the first to allow for personalisation of the taillight signature.

Dr. Werner Thomas, OLED technology project manager at Audi, explains: “Headlight technology has seen a rapid evolution at Audi in recent decades. In addition, we have been decisively driving the development of rear-lighting systems.” The latest milestone achievement: now the brand is the first automobile manufacturer to digitise the taillights.

Why does Audi focus on OLED technology?

OLED light sources are panel radiators – unlike point light sources such as LEDs using semiconductor crystals. The benefits of OLEDs: Their light is extremely homogeneous. It is infinitely dimmable and achieves very high contrast. It can be split into segments. These segments are individually controllable and can develop diverse levels of brightness, with minimal gaps between the segments. The lighting unit does not require any reflectors, optical fibres or similar optics. This makes OLED units very efficient, lightweight and flat, which considerably increases design freedom.

An OLED lighting element is just one millimetre thin, while conventional LED solutions require ...

    • 31 students from the ŠKODA vocational school create an exciting spider version of the ŠKODA Scala
    • Slavia spider inspired by ŠKODA 1100 OHC sports prototype
    • The Slavia name commemorates the anniversary of the company’s founding in 1895

The seventh ŠKODA Student Concept Car, designed by 31 trainees attending the renowned ŠKODA vocational school, links the past with the present: the open-top ŠKODA Slavia pays homage to this year’s ŠKODA AUTO anniversary by commemorating the name of the first bicycles produced by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement after they founded the company in 1895. The spider variant of the ŠKODA Scala combines the contemporary compact model’s bold and exciting lines with a common design standard from the earliest days of motoring, when most automobiles were open-top vehicles. From first draft to building this one-off car, the students completed every step themselves, with support from their instructors as well as ŠKODA experts in the Design, Production and Technical Development departments. This, the seventh ŠKODA Student Car since 2014, once again showcases the high standard of training at the ŠKODA vocational school in Mladá Boleslav.

Alois Kauer, who took over as Head of the ŠKODA Academy in February 2020, says, “The Student Car is the ŠKODA vocational school’s annual flagship project. For the seventh year running, our students are demonstrating the high standard of our in-house training by planning, designing and building an impressive one-off car. We enable them to design their dream car, working with professionals from our various departments. As a result, their training already familiarises them with processes that will become part of their working lives later on, when they graduate from our vocational school and embark on a career in our company.”

The seventh iteration of the ŠKODA Student Car marks the first time the project participants – comprising 31 trainees, among them five women ...

With the new Enyaq iV, ŠKODA is taking a big step forward in implementing its electromobility strategy. The all-electric SUV is the brand’s first series-production vehicle to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s modular electrification toolkit (MEB).

ŠKODA has now released a picture of the car’s silhouette which offers a taster of its most important new model this year. The ŠKODA Enyaq iV combines brand-typical virtues such as a generous amount of space, emotive design and well-balanced proportions with a sustainable yet fun driving experience.

The silhouette of the new ŠKODA Enyaq iV gives an idea of the proportions of the brand’s new flagship. A short front section and an elongated roofline create a dynamic exterior while at the same time offering a generous amount of space, typical of the brand. The new SUV has a similarly spacious interior as the ŠKODA Kodiaq, despite being shorter in length than a ŠKODA Octavia.

The Enyaq iV is available with a choice of rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, three battery sizes and five power levels. The Enyaq iV can be charged quickly, with a maximum capacity of 125 kW.
