MAN Engines is expanding its range of engines for light-duty workboats in North America by introducing an 800 hp (588 kW) inline-six engine.

The D2676 LE426 will be available from the second quarter of 2020. It satisfies the EPA Commercial emissions standards and offers 70 hp greater output than the well-established, 730 hp D2676 model. For the first time, the 800 hp version of the D2676 will also offer keel cooling capability for the engine as a factory-fitted feature.

“This means we can offer our customers the added value of keel cooling without compromising the 800 hp of power and performance,” says Ricardo Barbosa, president of MAN Engines & Components Inc., in Pompano Beach, FL.

A further advantage of keel cooling is a weight reduction of up to 5% compared to heat exchanger cooled engines.

With increased power, the MAN D2676 LE426 achieves an impressive power density.

By making use of new injectors and a new cylinder head, the MAN engineers have increased the engine’s power by almost 10% compared to the previous 730 hp (537 kW) model.

Consequently, the D2676 LE426 achieves a maximum torque of 2,674 Nm between 1,400 and 2,000 rpm from a bore of 126 mm and a stroke of 166 mm, allowing the inline-six engine to provide sufficient thrust for pilot boats, lifeboats, and fishing vessels.

It also shows the broad torque plateau typical for MAN marine engines.

This ensures maximum torque over a broad engine speed range at the lowest specific fuel consumption.

This is supported by the modified common rail injection system, which ensures improved combustion while ...

ASKO and Scania celebrate the start of operations of four hydrogen gas trucks with electric driveline and of ASKO’s hydrogen gas station in Trondheim, Norway.

There is no one-size-fits-all-universal solution within electrification of heavy commercial vehicles. One of the technology tracks that Scania has explored with its customer ASKO is fuel cell electric trucks powered by hydrogen gas. This venture now goes into the next phase with four trucks being put into real operation in a pilot that is one of the first of its kind. The pilot will be the basis for further learning and development for both companies.

“Scania continues to work with cutting edge technology that supports the shift to fossil free transport. An important part of this is done together with some of our most progressive partners, such as ASKO, in customer-near development”, says Karin Rĺdström, Head of Sales and Marketing at Scania.

Scania is working with its electrification roadmap in the same way as with the combustion engine-technology; a multi-facetted approach with a broad range of solutions. The company has researched and developed different kinds of bio-fuelled hybrid-electric technologies, as well as fully-electric vehicles. Scania’s battery electric bus was launched in 2019 and we also work with electric vehicles that can be charged via electrified roads or through hydrogen-powered fuel cells as is the case with ASKO.

“Hydrogen gas is an interesting option for long haulage electrified transport and early tests show that the technology also works well in colder ...

ŠKODA AUTO CEO Bernhard Maier emphasises: “ŠKODA AUTO is one of the world’s five oldest automobile manufacturers still active today. • Further improved, easier, more intuitive, less tiring and even faster, the new Panigale V4 is ready to take to the track
    • After being confirmed for the second consecutive year, the best-selling super sports bike in the world is now available from Ducati dealers
    • Over 450 motorcycles delivered in Europe and the United States

Since 2018, the date of its arrival on the market, the Panigale V4 has established new benchmarks in the super sports bike segment where, for the second consecutive year, it is the best-selling motorcycle in the world.

The production of the Panigale V4 MY2020 is in full swing. Around 450 motorcycles have been delivered to European and US dealers, and in the coming weeks the new super sports bike will also reach the other markets in the world in which Ducati is present.

To confirm the success already achieved by this jewel of style and technology, feedback and data from customers and the specialized press were collected and analysed in Borgo Panigale. This allowed Ducati to make a Panigale V4 that is easier, less fatiguing and more intuitive to ride, resulting in an even faster bike on the stopwatch, with an improvement that is all the more evident the lesser the rider's experience. In short, it is an even more powerful and enjoyable bike for an amateur who, on the track, can bring his performance closer
to that of a professional rider.

The Panigale V4 is now equipped with content taken from the V4 R. For example, the aerodynamic package through-air (aerofoils, plexiglas screen, nose ...

Audi is the first UK manufacturer to launch a one-card charging service

    • Two tariffs available – City and Transit – for maximum flexibility
    • 18 charge point operators currently on-board, covering more than one third of the UK public charging network, with plans to expand
    • 134,000 charging stations across 24 European countries
    • One year’s free subscription with the Transit tariff

With the help of the new e-tron Charging Service owners of electrified Audi models can now plug and pay at hundreds of charge points across the UK and Europe with a single tap, and without being encumbered by subscriptions to numerous suppliers. Key to the new service is an RFID card that unlocks access to a sizeable network of charge points operated by 18 companies in the UK – including IONITY, Pod Point, Source London and Instavolt – as well as two attractive fixed tariffs and free roaming abroad, yet generates only one monthly invoice for carriers in the interest of simplicity. The e-tron Charging Service automatically charges the owner’s account based on usage without any extra input or effort required.

“The general perception of EV charging is that it is confusing and inconvenient, and we want to help to gradually dispel that belief,” said Andrew Doyle, Director of Audi UK. “We started by equipping the e-tron with the potential for fast charging at up to 150kW, and are now removing another layer of complexity for our EV owners by streamlining the end-to-end process, from charging activation to invoicing, with this new service.”

    • New two-minute film contrasts Bentayga Speed’s 3.8-second 0-60 mph time with the 16 days it takes to handcraft each and every car
    • Celebrates Bentley as the Centre of Excellence for Wood, Leather and W12 Engine manufacture within the Volkswagen Group
    • Automotive production filmed from a racing drone for the first time

The handcrafting of Bentayga Speed is captured in a new film released today by Bentley Motors. Shot entirely at the Bentley factory in Crewe, England, the two-minute film contrasts the stunning 3.8-second 0-60 mph time of Bentayga Speed with the 127 working hours – 16 working days - it takes to craft each car by hand. Bentayga Speed is both the fastest SUV in the world, with a top speed of 190 mph, and the SUV with the highest number of hours committed to exceptional handcraftsmanship.

Covering all of the areas of Bentayga production at Crewe, the film celebrates Bentley’s status as the Centre of Excellence for Wood, Leather and 12-cylinder engine manufacture within the Volkswagen Group. The opening scenes in the Wood Shop show highlights of the 10 hours of processing required to turn raw leaves of sustainably sourced wood into finished veneer. Every sheet of wood within a completed car comes from the same tree, to ensure the pattern and colour through the car remain the same, and ages in the same way.

Transferring to the Trim Shop, the process of creating the interior cabin from exquisite leather hides is summarised. The dedicated team of craftspeople in the Trim Shop take just over eight hours to transform up to 14 bull hides - all of which ...
