    • Final example of iconic 6¾-litre V8 engine completed in Crewe
    • Longest-serving V8 design in continuous production in history
    • 36,000 L-Series V8s produced over last 61 years
    • Last engine to power the thirtieth and final Mulsanne 6.75 Edition by Mulliner, an exclusive series that closes Mulsanne production

The mighty Bentley 6¾-litre V8 engine – the longest serving V8 design in continuous production – has finally reached the end of its handcrafted manufacturing run. The final engine was assembled in Crewe yesterday by the dedicated team of seven people, who between them have a combined experience of 105 years building Bentley’s iconic V8 engine.

In production for more than 60 years, and with the same configuration and bore spacing as the very first version from 1959, the last L-Series engine will spend its life powering the 30th and last specially commissioned Mulsanne 6.75 Edition by Mulliner. This bespoke series closes the Mulsanne’s production run, and celebrates the life of its iconic engine with a myriad of V8-inspired details including badging, blueprint graphics and even ventilation “organ stops” featuring a miniature version of the oil cap.

Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing, Peter Bosch, comments: “Our venerable 6¾-litre V8 has powered the flagship Bentley for more than six decades, and so has earned its retirement. I am extremely proud of the generations of skilled craftspeople that have meticulously assembled every one of these engines by hand over the years. That this engine stood the test of time for so long is testament to the ingenious engineers who kept making the engine ever more powerful, refined and reliable. Now, we ...

The North Loop (Nordschleife) of the Nürburgring is a legend among race tracks:

The 20.832-kilometre course is among the most challenging worldwide. And every single metre is truly a tough challenge: the compression at the Fuchsröhre, the kickbacks at the Karussell, or the jump at the Pflanzgarten. More than 80 percent of the course is driven with full power. With maximum load applied in fast motion, every kilometre on this course equates to multiple kilometres of regular road operation. 8,000 kilometres of endurance testing on the North Loop easily equates to a car’s entire lifetime. With its high demands, the North
Loop is the benchmark for every performance car. If you can survive here, you can survive on the world’s roads.

The North Loop can also tell a knowledgeable driver a lot about an automobile: Its strengths and weaknesses, precise handling to achieve fast lap times, easy controllability at the limit and, most of all, solid quality even in the most challenging conditions. This is why the North Loop is one of the fixed stars in the cosmos of vehicle development and testing at Audi Sport GmbH.

    • Design of new Golf GTI1 is characterised by a superior, sporty character
    • New Engine Start/Stop button pulses in red before the engine starts

Agile drive, the running gear of dreams, unmistakable design, perfect ergonomics, unadulterated driving pleasure – that’s the DNA of a true sports car. At Volkswagen, this is represented by three letters: GTI. The eighth generation of the sporty Golf derivate is now on the way.
