    • Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles unveils the e-BULLI as a concept vehicle – a 1966 classic with 2020 electric drive
    • More than a one-off – eClassics to offer T1 conversions and T1 complete vehicles in the e-BULLI style
    • Icon with zero on-road emissions – the e-BULLI’s new drive technology is made up of the latest Volkswagen electric car modules

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) is presenting for the first time the e-BULLI, an all-electric vehicle that produces zero emissions on the road. Equipped with the drive system components of the latest Volkswagen electric vehicles, the concept vehicle is based on a T1 Samba Bus produced in 1966 and comprehensively restored. The stage for the world premiere was to have been Techno Classica 2020. As it has been postponed, VWCV is now presenting it virtually. An important message for all fans of the Bulli and of electric mobility: the combination of high-end classic and high-tech electric vehicle will be available to buy for real. VWCV partner eClassics is planning to offer T1 conversions and T1 complete vehicles in the style of the new e-BULLI.

It started with the seemingly audacious idea of switching an historic Bulli over to a drive system producing zero emissions on the road in order to bring it in line with the challenges of a new era. To this end VWCV engineers and designers formed a team along with drive system experts from Volkswagen Group Components and the eClassics company, which specialises in electric car conversions. As the basis for the future e-BULLI the team chose a T1 Samba Bus produced in Hannover in 1966, which prior to its conversion spent half a century on the roads of California. One thing was certain ...

    • The innovative low-entry Scania L-series can now be ordered with the DC07 engine
    • A solution for distribution, waste and construction in congested city areas where safety, ergonomics and low weight are in focus
    • In combination with the Scania City Safe Window, camera systems and trained drivers, this constitutes an optimal solution for urban applications

Scania’s kneeling L-series has all the capabilities that are required of a truck designed for urban areas. With the introduction of the DC07 engine also for the L-series, the load-carrying capacity now increases by some 360 kilos. It is available in three diffe*rent power outputs: 220, 250 and 280 hp.

With the introduction of the L-series cabs in 2017, Scania made a strong mark in the urban heavy commercial vehicle segment. This was something new – a modularised, low-entry truck with all the capabilities that characterise Scania but with the driver – and boarding – brought down to street level. The L-series affords excellent cross-cab access and relieves physical driver strain while also enabling them to really interact with others, eye-to-eye, in busy traffic environments.

“Initially, we primarily focused on certain applications with slightly heavier operations by offering the L-series with our five cylinder, 9-litre inline engines,” says Stefan Lindholm, Senior Product Manager, Scania Trucks. “However, what assumed already from the outset was later confirmed. There is a demand for solutions based on the lighter and more flexible 7-litre engine as well.”

The Scania DC07 was first introduced in ...

    • 1979 Volkswagen Golf GTI 1.6 Mk1 Series 1 for auction with The Market
    • Museum quality example of the very early 4 speed variant
    • Less than 17,000 miles from new with only three registered owners
    • Auction starts Thursday 19th March and runs for one week with an estimate of Ł31,000 to Ł42,000

An incredibly rare 1979 Volkswagen Golf GTI 1.6 Mk1 Series 1 in museum quality condition with ‘unicorn’ status will go under the hammer with leading online classic car auction house, The Market.

The very early, UK, right hand drive, 4 speed variant has covered less than 17,000 miles from new in the hands of only three registered owners, making it possibly the best preserved, most original and most well-known Golf GTI Mk 1 on the planet.

Originally purchased by its first owner for Ł5,132.39 in September 1979, the classic VW is expected to sell for between Ł31,000 and Ł42,000 when it goes under the hammer with online auctioneer The Market, beginning on 19th March and closing on 25th March.

So famous is this particular car that it even has its own Corgi Vanguards Classics 1:43 scale model, an exact miniature replica of the car itself.

“This is possibly the last opportunity that any of us will ever have to own what is still an essentially brand-new, unrestored, reference quality Golf GTI Mk1 – and not just any GTI, but the very purist, earliest model of the car that blazed a trail for everything that came thereafter,” comments Tristan Judge, director, The Market.

This particular example, registration ‘ENT 847V’, is well known within enthusiast ...

    • Distinctive diamond quilted tweed fabric complements a Burr Walnut single finished veneer
    • Specially commissioned Spruce exterior paint finish
    • Gloss black 22-inch Mulliner Driving Specification wheels with Continental Blackline specification

Bentley Mulliner has opened its new Collections portfolio with the creation of a truly bespoke Continental GT Convertible – the Equestrian Edition.

This one of a kind Continental GT Convertible embodies a myriad of distinctive features, building on the strengths of Bentley’s iconic open top Grand Tourer. Inspired by the greatest racecourse in the world and home to the most exhilarating and prestigious event of the horse racing calendar, The Cheltenham Festival, the sole example of the Equestrian Edition has been specially commissioned by Bentley Bristol and hand built by Bentley Mulliner in Crewe. To celebrate the car’s inspiration, it was recently photographed at Jackdaws Castle – the famous state of the art equestrian training facility and home of Jonjo O’Neill Racing, just 10 miles from Cheltenham Racecourse.

Sumptuous embroidery and artisanal marquetry rarefies the Equestrian Edition. Horse and rider silhouettes adorn all four seats, that are finished in the aptly named sustainable Saddle hide. A Cumbrian Green secondary hide complements the bespoke theme. The same horse and rider silhouette accompanies Bentley Mulliner branding in the front fascia, ...

    • Floating 12-inch touchscreen the centre point of the connected cabin

    • Deliveries will begin in the last quarter of 2020

CUPRA is taking a significant step forward as a brand with the unveil of the CUPRA Formentor, the first model developed exclusively for the brand.

The high-performance coupe crossover is the epitome of the CUPRA DNA: sophistication, innovation and a dynamic driving experience.

At a time when the coupe crossover segment is forecast to grow exponentially, the CUPRA Formentor combines the benefits of a performance car with the qualities of an SUV.

“The CUPRA Formentor is destined to make CUPRA an even more relevant brand in the market. With captivating design and high-performance powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid, the CUPRA Formentor will be a big step for CUPRA. It will clearly show the potential of the brand,”
said CUPRA Chairman of the board and CEO, Wayne Griffiths.

Exterior design: the essence of CUPRA

The CUPRA Formentor is named after the wild cape on the Spanish island of Mallorca, in the Balearics. The vehicle encapsulates all the attributes of the unique setting that lend themselves to the high-performance crossover’s exterior design. The rocks of the cape, which have been sculpted by the wind, served the design team as inspiration for the side contours that show dynamism and a feeling of movement.

“The CUPRA Formentor is an appealing car in terms of performance, technology and aesthetics, based on the beauty of its proportions, the strength of its line and the refinement of its details,”
said Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Director of Design.

    • Power output of 180kW (245PS) as well as vRS-typical exterior and interior
    • Four new electrified Octavia models: the Octavia vRS iV, Octavia iV and two Octavia e-TECs

Featuring black details on the bodywork, the Octavia vRS iV can immediately be recognised as sporty top-of-the-range variant of ŠKODA’s bestseller, now in its fourth generation. The Czech car manufacturer will offer the new Octavia in three other electrified versions as well. The Octavia iV is a plug-in hybrid delivering 150 kW (204 PS) and is available in the SE and SE L trims. Two e-TEC variants producing 81 kW (110 PS) and 110 kW (150 PS) make use of mild hybrid technology for the first time at ŠKODA.

Christian Strube, ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development, said, “By introducing the Octavia RS iV, we are starting a new chapter in the success story of our RS portfolio. We are using plug-in-hybrid drive in a sporty top-of-the-range model for the first time. • Up to 500 km – aerodynamics and efficiency allow long ranges
    • Global car – ID.4 to be produced and sold in Europe, China and the U.S.

The ID. CROZZ2 showcar evolves into its series production version, the ID.4: Volkswagen is forging ahead with its electric mobility strategy by providing a detailed insight into the brand’s first all-electric SUV during a webcast following the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show. The new ID.4 will be launched this year. Following in the tracks of the ID.3
3, the countdown has already begun for the second model based on the new modular electric drive matrix (MEB). “Just like the ID.3, the ID.4 will also come onto the market as a carbon-neutral vehicle”, explains Ralf Brandstätter, Chief Operating Officer of the Volkswagen brand. “We will produce and sell the ID.4 in Europe, China and the U.S..”

The design of this zero-emission SUV is particularly aerodynamic. Ralf Brandstätter: “The outstanding aerodynamics reduce the drag coefficient, and it will boost the ID.4’s range to up to 500 kilometres, depending on the drive package."

The ID.4 will initially be launched with rear-wheel drive, while an electric all-wheel drive version will be added to the portfolio at a later date. The high-voltage battery is positioned near the center of the underbody to create a low centre of gravity and an optimum in terms of driving dynamics, along with an extremely well-balanced axle load distribution. Just like all other MEB models, the ID.4 offers ...
