    • Updated SUPERB is the first ŠKODA production car to feature full LED Matrix headlights and Dynamic lighting functions
    • Full LED tail lights with dynamic indicators improve visibility
    • Revised SUPERB to be launched in this month

ŠKODA’s updated flagship model, the Superb, is the brand’s first production car to feature innovative full LED Matrix headlights. The revised model will boast even more safety and greater comfort. The Czech car manufacturer has revealed first impressions of the new full LED Matrix headlights, the redesigned LED fog lights and full LED tail lights with dynamic indicators. The world premiere of the revised ŠKODA Superb will take place in May as part of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia; which ŠKODA sponsors.

The sketch of the full LED Matrix headlights reveals the design of the innovative lighting system, which consists of an LED module for the dipped and high beam as well as three further LED high beam segments, and bears ‘ŠKODA Crystal Lighting’ lettering in the housings. A narrow strip of LEDs provides the indicators, daytime running lights and position light. Above this are fine needle-like LED structures, which are part of the new animated Coming/Leaving Home function. When turning on and off the car, this feature automatically turns elements of the headlights and tail lights on and off in a specified sequence.

Updated Audi compact executive range adopts the latest Audi design hallmarks, efficiency aids and advanced infotainment technology

    • Best-selling A4 range moves into step with latest Audi design language
    • Fully connected and with new MMI touch display
    • Electrification with mild hybrid technology enhances comfort and efficiency
    • S4 TDI combines V6 TDI engine with electric compressor and 48-volt main electrical system for the first time
    • Available for UK ordering from June – first deliveries in September

A more streamlined look and a more contemporary feel – today marks the launch of a comprehensively updated Audi A4 range that moves into step with the latest additions to the Audi family in terms of design and technology and anchors the broad spread of Saloon, Avant and allroad models even more firmly in the vanguard of the compact executive class. The launch is also notable for including high performance S4 variants that travel under TDI power for the first time in the model’s history, and also do so with the benefit of the same independent electric compressor technology that brought the SQ7 so much critical acclaim.

    Sharper focus: the exterior design

Newly designed headlights contribute to a favourable first impression in the latest A4 models, and all now use LED technology as standard regardless of version. The lamps flank a broader, flatter Singleframe grille that is complemented by resculpted bumper elements with a more horizontal aspect that emphasises width.

The profile is defined by the distinctive new detailing above the wings and the lower- set shoulder line in between. They form strong contours above the wheels and make the quattro genes outwardly visible.

    • OTR prices from Ł44,635 – available in conjunction with all engine options

Darkness falls on the Audi A6 range again this month as the popular Black Edition specification becomes available for the latest generation Saloon and Avant models. Already a firm favourite with customers ordering the previous generation model, the new top tier A6 specification can be combined with all engines in the new range, with OTR prices starting from Ł44,635 OTR.

Building on the foundations of the performance-focused S line specification, the Black Editions upgrade from a 19-inch wheel to a gloss turned 20-inch V-spoke design in matt titanium. Privacy glass for the rear windows also helps to set the tone.

All the mild hybrid powertrains in the range can be combined with the new specification, from the 204PS and 245PS four-cylinder engines powering the 40 TDI and 45 TFSI through to the 286PS and 340PS six cylinder options in the 50 TDI and 55 TFSI.

New V6 diesel powerplant in elegant Coupe and Sportback delivers stepless torque thanks to the electric powered compressor

    • Powerful 3.0 TDI engine with 347PS and 700Nm
    • 48-volt mild hybrid technology and electric powered compressor
    • Ideal combination of efficiency and performance

For the first time in its history, the Audi S5 now has a V6 diesel at its heart. Underpinned by mild hybrid technology, it equips the peak performer with impressive staying power between fill-ups and delivers even greater immediacy of response courtesy of an electric powered compressor. The 3.0 TDI engine, which will be introduced in both the S5 Coupé and the S5 Sportback in late 2019, now produces 347PS and delivers up to 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of torque to the crankshaft, available between 2,500 and 3,100 rpm.

This combination of power, torque and efficiency sets the S5 apart in this segment.

The 3.0 TDI in the S5 models is the most powerful version in the Audi V6 diesel engine line-up. Both the electric powered compressor (EPC) and mild hybrid (MHEV) systems are embedded in the standard 48-volt main electrical circuit. For the first time in the S5 TDI, a powerful 48–volt belt alternator starter is the heart of the mild hybrid system with maximum recuperation power of up to 8 kW. A DC/DC converter steps this voltage down for components in the 12–volt electrical system. A compact, air-cooled lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 0.5 kWh installed under the luggage compartment floor serves as the energy centre.

With these characteristics, the V6 diesel engine is the ideal power plant for agility, spontaneity, low fuel consumption and long range, with a suitably resonant sound to match.

Acceleration to 62mph in the S5 Coupé takes 4.8 seconds and and 4.9 seconds in the S5 Sportback, with both reaching their peak at an electronically limited 155mph.

    • SEAT is joining over 1,250 exhibitors at this year’s Techno-Classica show for vintage, classic and prestige vehicles
    • The SEAT 1430, arguably the most complete Spanish saloon of its time, heads to the show in Essen, Germany
    • The grandfather of today’s Leon ST Cupra, the SEAT 1430 Especial 1600 Familiar, will take to the stage
    • SEAT’s gorgeous 850 Sport Spider will be on display, a car unique in the brand’s long history

Once again, SEAT will be part of Techno-Classica, the renowned world show for vintage, classic and prestige cars in Essen, Germany. At this year’s edition, the Spanish carmaker is showing the variety and diversity of its history with some of the most popular vehicles to have driven off the brand’s production line.

Two versions of the 50-year-old 1430 – a first series saloon and a more powerful estate – as well as a gorgeous example of the 850 Sport Spider – the only convertible SEAT has ever developed which also turns 50 this year – will be on show.

The SEAT that brought greater refinement to saloons: the SEAT 1430

The SEAT 1430 was released in 1969 and so marks its 50th anniversary in 2019. It was a 124 derivative, a unique Spanish model which can be considered the most complete Spanish saloon car of the time. The 1430 is easily recognisable by its twin-headlights, (the 124 always had a single headlight), and bigger tail lights, while under the bonnet was a 1,438cc, 70PS engine, (10PS more than the standard 1.2-litre 124).

Although the design of the 1430 was very similar to the standard 124, the simple modifications to the lights and the bigger, more powerful engine were enough

    • The millionth Sharan has rolled off the assembly line in Portugal
    • The most popular family van in its segment has been manufactured by Volkswagen Autoeuropa since 1995
    • This multivariable van is available in 33 markets

Today, the millionth Sharan rolled off the assembly line at Volkswagen Autoeuropa in Palmela since production started there 24 years ago. Its safety, space utilisation and sliding door concept continues to impress families and long-haul drivers around the world.

Nowadays, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) dominate the roads but at the beginning of the nineties, it was the multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) that triggered a real van boom. The Sharan has remained one of the most popular vehicles in this segment to this day. But the Sharan has not only been successful in Europe, but also as a top-of-the-range business van in Asia. Currently, the multivariable vehicle is available on a total of 33 markets, with Germany being one of the main markets.

The family-friendly Sharan impresses with its huge variability and particularly good space utilisation. The current generation offers numerous new safety features as standard, making it one of the most advanced vehicles in its segment. The Lane Assist lane keeping system and the Front Assist area monitoring system are installed as standard. Front Assist warns when you are driving too close to the vehicle in front and intervenes by applying the brakes within the system limits.

Executive class Audi S models newly adopt TDI power bolstered by a 48-volt MHEV drivetrain and ultra-responsive electric compressor

    • Performance, presence and comfort – S6 Saloon, S6 Avant and S7 Sportback
    • An impressive 700 newton-metres of torque thanks to combination of electric powered compressor, 48-volt primary electrical system and V6 TDI engine
    • S model design: sporty look and sophisticated pedigree
    • Available in mainland Europe and the UK in the summer

For the first time the executive class Audi S Series models are welcoming TDI power into their ranks – the new Audi S6 and S7 join the recently reinstated SQ5 in offering a torque-rich V6 TDI engine that fully delivers on the promise of the red rhombus-backed S badge but is also in it for the long haul. Thanks to an electrically powered compressor working with a 48-volt primary electrical system, the new MHEV models combine characteristic TDI economy with exceptional throttle response which can be fully exploited with the help of S sport suspension with damping control, dynamic all-wheel steering and the option of ceramic disc-assisted braking.

“Torque kick” – electrically powered compressor and 700 Nm of torque

An impressive 700 newton metres (516.3 lb-ft) of torque available across an engine speed range of 2,500 to 3,100 rpm is the ideal basis for compelling performance in the new executive class S TDI models. They take the very successful configuration of the SQ7 TDI to the next level by pairing an electrically powered compressor with a 48-volt primary electrical system for the first time. This takes the 3.0-litre V6 TDI’s total power output to 350 horsepower, which is transmitted via the eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission to the quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Ever ready: the electrically powered compressor

The electrically powered compressor (EPC) delivers high starting performance. As well as very vigorous acceleration, the electric supercharger ...
