SEAT’s debut plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Leon e-HYBRID, is now available to order, priced from £30,970 RRP OTR.

The e-HYBRID drivetrain combines a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine with an electric motor and six-speed DSG transmission, resulting in a total power output of 204PS and a 0-62mph time of 7.5 seconds.

Power is supplied to the electric motor via a 13kWh lithium-ion battery back which is recharged via a 3.6kW AC inlet. This enables Leon e-HYBRID to be fully charged from 0 per cent in less than 4 hours.

Leon e-HYBRID produces CO2 emissions from as low as 27g/km (WLTP) and a combined fuel consumption figure of 217.3-235.4mpg.

The Leon e-HYBRID has an electric-only range of 36 miles, enabling it to be driven with zero tailpipe emissions, ideal for urban environments with strict air quality regulations and business users thanks for its benefit-in-kind rating of just 10 per cent.

The Leon PHEV drivetrain is available in FR, FR Sport, Xcellence, Xcellence Lux and First Edition trims.

    • New Audi Q8 55 TFSI e quattro and Competition 60 TFSI e quattro available in the UK later this month priced from £73,860 OTR and £85,760 OTR respectively
    • V6 TFSI and 100kW electric motor deliver 381PS in Q8 55 TFSI e quattro and 462PS in Q8 Competition 60 TFSI e quattro
    • New battery with 17.8 kWh, electric range of up to 28 miles (WLTP)
    • Option to upgrade both variants with exceptionally comprehensive Vorsprung specification

Luxury on a grand scale, consumption at its most modest – like its more familiar relatives the new Audi Q8 TFSI e quattro goes above and beyond to provide the most superlative driving experience in the Audi SUV range, but the brand’s seventh plug-in-hybrid also goes to even greater lengths to do so as environmentally sensitively as possible. The new version closes the last gap in the Q8 family and will be available in the UK in two forms - the Q8 55 TFSI e quattro with a system output of 381 PS and the Q8 Competition 60 TFSI e quattro with 462 PS. Both combine abundant V6 TFSI power with an electric motor that enables them to travel for up to 28 miles under electric power and therefore with zero local emissions.

“Luxury travel is obviously something to be savoured, but for an ever increasing number of drivers it can only be enjoyed with due consideration and respect for the environment,” says Director of Audi UK Andrew Doyle.

“Cruising on air suspension in the upscale surroundings of the new Q8 TFSI e accompanied only by the distant purr of its electric motor is a true golden moment, but also a green one that can be enjoyed for the entire duration of many commutes, eliminating exhaust emissions from numerous journeys. Factor in the V6 engine providing the luxury of abundant power and the convenience of a far-reaching driving range in hybrid mode and you have an SUV that ...

    • Seven new trim levels announced, with pre-configured specification
    • The most accessible ID.3 Life version will cost £29,9901
    • The ID.3 Tour introduces a 77 kWh battery and 336 mile range2

Just four weeks after the first British customers collected their ID.3 1ST Editions, Volkswagen has announced pricing for the seven pre-configured series ID.3 models. The lowest-priced of these net carbon-neutral models, the ID.3 Life, will cost £29,990 RRP OTR including the £3,000 plug-in car grant. Orders for the new models will open next week with first deliveries expected before the end of the month.

Volkswagen is preparing to open the order books for seven new ID.3 variants following the arrival of the limited-production ID.3 1ST Edition. Six of these models use the familiar 58 kWh battery (net capacity) and 204 PS motor seen on the 1ST Edition, while the ID.3 Tour also has a 204 PS motor but introduces the largest 77 kWh battery (net capacity) with an increased range of 336 miles (WLTP combined figure). Next year more accessible variants – with lower power outputs and the smallest 45 kWh battery – will go on sale.

The ID.3 Pro Performance (58 kWh battery and 204 PS motor) will be available in six specification levels: Life, Style, Business, Family, Tech and Max. At the top of the range, meanwhile, the four-seater ID.3 Pro S will have the largest battery fitted (77 kWh and 204 PS motor). This will be available only in Tour specification. Each of these trim levels comes with a pre-configured specification, built with a variety of option packages designed to suit different customer needs. This approach also enables the carbon-neutral factory in Zwickau, Germany, to build the cars faster.

All seven ID.3 models will feature LED headlights, Adaptive Cruise Control, ...

    • Enhanced Tiguan is more connected, stylish and efficient than ever
    • Y-shaped trim line-up lets buyers choose a luxury or sporting focus

The enhanced Volkswagen Tiguan has opened for order in the UK, with six engine and gearbox configurations available across four trim levels on the new-look, new technology, new-era SUV. The capable all-rounder is now enhanced with a refreshed trim line-up, powertrain innovations including twin-dosing and cylinder deactivation, safety-conscious technologies like IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, and a lower price. The hugely successful SUV now starts at £24,915 RRP OTR for the entry-level version: the Tiguan 1.5 TSI 130 PS 6-speed manual, which is priced £545 lower than its outgoing equivalent.

With over six million sold worldwide since its launch in 2007, the Tiguan is the leading light for Volkswagen’s success in SUVs, and is available in 80% of all countries. The brand’s top-selling model across the globe found 910,926 homes in 2019, and now enters the second phase of its second generation, with a fresh new look, new technology – including Volkswagen’s acclaimed IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights – and greater connectivity thanks to the MIB3 infotainment system, as well as improved convenience with touch-sensitive steering wheel controls for selected models.

    • New drivetrain options significantly expand choice for Arteon buyers
    • 2.0 TDI 200 PS becomes most potent engine available to order now
    • Entry price drops as 1.5 TSI 150 PS engine debuts in growing range

mpressive new engine options are today added to the Volkswagen Arteon range in the UK as the revised and extended premium class family of models gains its most potent power unit yet. In addition to the initial engine line-up announced last month, the revised Arteon fastback and new Arteon Shooting Brake can now be ordered with a muscular 200 PS 2.0-litre TDI.

The enhanced Arteon range is now available to order in no fewer than 26 configurations, split equally between 13 Arteon fastback and 13 Arteon Shooting Brake models, with new drivetrain options now available across both body styles. Three equipment lines remain available – SE Nav, Elegance and R-Line – with the range-topping 320 PS R models scheduled to arrive in the UK in 2021. An eHybrid powertrain will also debut in the Arteon fastback and Arteon Shooting Brake in due course.

The initial wave of engine and gearbox options in new Arteon opened for order last month and now Volkswagen is extending that selection significantly with, among much else, the arrival of the entry-level 1.5-litre 150 PS TSI engine in 6-speed manual gearbox form for the first time which further lowers the entry-level price for this already keenly priced model.

In fastback form, and when mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5 TSI-equipped Arteon covers the 0-62 mph sprint in 8.9 seconds, and will reach a top speed of 137 mph. Depending on the trim chosen, the car is capable of up to 44.8 mpg (combined, WLTP). ...

    • Completely new engine management hardware and software
    • Increased compression ratio and peak cylinder pressure
    • Deactivated auxiliaries, such as the air compressor
    • Ball bearing turbocharger on the 770 hp engine

Scania’s constant quest to develop its V8 engines further continues into the 2020s – and the result is even more fuel efficient engines suited for the most demanding transportation tasks. These improvements made by Scania’s engineers are the outcome of passion, vast experience, limitless competence and lots of ingenious thinking. So, how do they do it?

“We build upon Scania’s vast V8 experience and continue to improve what gene-rations of skilled engineers have learnt, created and achieved before us,” says Göran Lindh, Chief Engineer for Scania’s V8 engines. “There are no quantum leaps, it is all about refining things and adding the latest technology. The new EMS enables a smarter and more advanced engine control software with higher accuracy. We can, for instance, calculate more precisely how much fuel that is needed and when.”

The EMS (Engine Management System) interact with the AMS (Aftertreatment Management System). They are both highly critical to meet the current and coming Euro 6 regulations re¬garding NOx and particles. (And not only when the truck is new, but also over time; the legal demand is at least seven years or 700,000 kilometres.)

Scania has added a new solution were AdBlue fluid is actually injected twice: once directly after the exhaust brake and a second dose at ...
