    It’s not always a bad thing not to be firing on all cylinders. Take the new 1.4 TSI ACT engine in the SEAT Ibiza FR Edition, for example. It’s got four cylinders, but if it only needs to use a couple of them to get along, it’ll do just that, significantly cutting down the amount of fuel it uses in the process.
    The result is a car that will hit the 62 mph benchmark in under eight seconds, but is rated at 60.1 mpg on the combined cycle.
    The new 140 PS ACT petrol engine replaces the 150 PS 1.4 TSI non-ACT engine in the Ibiza range, offering performance as close as makes no difference (it takes 0.2 seconds longer to hit 62 mph) but delivering a whopping 12.2 mpg average efficiency improvement, and 30 g/km less CO2 – down to 109 g/km.
    Available with a manual transmission only, the standard 1.4 TSI ACT FR 140 PS is also Ł1,015 cheaper than the 150 PS car it replaces, which came with a DSG automatic gearbox as standard.
    SEAT is today unveiling the FR Edition, which uses the ACT engine but sits above the standard FR in the Ibiza range, to celebrate the introduction of this ground-breaking technology – a first for SEAT.

    Since the Porsche Boxster first appeared in showrooms nearly 20 years ago, the mid-engined two-seater has established itself as the benchmark roadster. The new Boxster GTS, which is announced today, enhances the driving experience further with an uprated engine and specific chassis tuning, and in the process sets a new standard for open-top driving enthusiasts.
    Building on the proven Boxster virtues of light weight, responsive handling and a charismatic flat-six engine, the GTS features an optimised version of the proven 3.4-litre engine which has been tuned to produce an additional 15 hp (11 kW). The Boxster GTS thus develops 330 hp (243 kW), and pulling power has also increased by ten newton metres to 370 Nm.

    At the 1974 Geneva Motor Show, a sleek new Volkswagen hatchback coupe made its debut. Forty years and over a million sales later, the Volkswagen Scirocco is preparing to return to Geneva, with a new range of advanced engines that offer up to 280 PS yet also promise fuel efficiency improvements of up to 19 per cent, without compromising the Scirocco’s dynamic performance.
    Externally, the Scirocco’s stylish shape has been refined and modernised with new headlights and tail lights, as well as revised bumper styling.
    The revised front bumper features aerodynamic ‘blades’ in the outer section, like those of the latest-generation Golf GTI, with integrated indicator lights, daytime running lights and fog lights. On models fitted with the optional bi-xenon headlights, the daytime running lights are LEDs within the main headlights. At the rear, all Sciroccos now have LED tail lights, while the bumper has been reshaped to appear lower and more purposeful.     An Audi A3 equipped to provide the most environmentally friendly form of long-distance mobility will soon be taking to the roads. The A3 Sportback g-tron can be powered by ultra-clean Audi e-gas produced using green electricity, or by compressed natural gas, both of which are available to drivers in Germany, where advance sales of the car have just begun.
    The Audi A3 g-tron forms part of a new, integrated and sustainable mobility concept from the Vorsprung durch Technik brand. Its 1.4-litre TFSI engine develops 110 PS and can be operated using either natural gas, e-gas generated by Audi or petrol. In pure e-gas mode the g-tron is entirely CO2-neutral, meaning that customers who use the Audi e-gas fuel card can opt to power their A3 g-tron without impacting on the environment if they wish.
    The A3 Sportback g-tron will be priced from 25,900 euros in Germany. Due to the lack of infrastructure required to fully implement natural gas filling stations, there are no plans for Audi to introduce this model in the UK.

    From a visual standpoint alone, the Audi S3 Cabriolet cuts an athletic figure. It is 4.43 metres long, has a wheelbase of 2.60 metres, and is 1.79 metres wide and 1.39 metres tall. The proportions are extended and balanced elegantly; precise lines and muscularly arched surfaces define the flanks.
    The open-top four-seater has a soft top with an electrohydraulic drive. Magnesium, aluminium and high-strength steel keep its weight low. A highly insulating foam layer in the roof reduces the noise level in the interior. The top is available in three colours. It opens or closes in 18 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 31 mph. An active rollover system protects passengers in the event of an accident.

    Ingolstadt, February 20, 2014 – At next month’s Geneva Motor Show Audi will pull the wraps from a completely new iteration of the compact sports car that tore up the rulebook and changed the course of design in its class at its 1998 launch. For the third generation of the iconic TT, the designers have reinterpreted a host of ideas from that first, game-changing template.
    The front end of the new Audi TT has dominant horizontals. The Singleframe grille is broad and flat. Two contours form a V-pattern over the bonnet. The position of the four rings is also new - they now sit centrally on the hood, echoing the R8.
    Struts divide up the large air inlets. The headlights repeat this motif – they are structured with divider struts acting as reflectors for the daytime running light. Audi can supply the headlights as an option with LED technology or its pioneering Matrix LED technology, where controllable individual light-emitting diodes generate the main beam.
