    Fresh from wowing the crowds at the Frankfurt Motor Show just a few weeks ago, the Leon CUPRA R, SEAT’s most powerful and exclusive car to date, is now available to order priced at £34,995 on-the-road.

    A limited production run has been confirmed for the eagerly-awaited Leon CUPRA R, a model that will combine power and performance with sophisticated styling and a premium finish. Just 799 models will be built for global sale in the first half of 2018, of which 24 are initially destined for the UK.

    Since its unveiling, SEAT has been overwhelmed by initial customer interest. It’s not hard to see why. The Leon CUPRA 300 is a great platform from which to start and the firm’s R&D team have taken full advantage by upgrading the standard car with a series of enhancements to create the finest Leon road car yet, the CUPRA R.

    Among the improvements on the technical side are a new steering system, modified camber angles on the front axle, four piston Brembo brake callipers and crucially, a retuned exhaust system with even racier note. In terms of performance, the Leon CUPRA R is limited to 155 mph and will despatch 0-62 mph in just 5.8 seconds.

    “I want the fastest possible, new RS/AMG/M car!” That’s something that I, and probably lots of you, have thought when considering which new model to go for. For enthusiasts like us, it’s the natural way to think about your next purchase. So, when I was testing, not the second most powerful, but third down the list of quickest Audi A5 based models, the 2.0l TFSI, I was surprised to start thinking that it might be the pick of the bunch.

    You’re probably already thinking that I should hand in my V-Power card, but bear with me.




    Audi’s latest A5 is a striking bit of design from a company that has been ultra-conservative over the last 10 years. Plum for the RS5 or S5 variety and they do look more purposeful, but the difference is nowhere near as large as it was on say they B5 RS4 compared to a rep spec model.

    Let’s start by looking at the stats for three of the petrol models:
    A5 2.0 TFSI, 252 PS, 370Nm 1,390 kg, 181PS/ton (remap to 300PS = 215PS/ton)
    S5, 354PS, 500Nm, 1,660 kg, 213PS/ton
    RS5, 450PS, 600Nm, 1,665 kg, 270Ps/ton

    There’s no denying how much of a monster the RS5 is, however with a simple £500 remap the 2.0 TFSI can achieve a higher PS/ton then the S5.

    Volkswagen is shaking up the SUV sector with the arrival of its stylish new compact SUV: the T-Roc. And, echoing the new car’s marketing tagline, those ‘born confident’ are from today being invited to order the new model at Volkswagen Retailers nationwide.


    To secure one of the initial 1,000 new T-Rocs on offer, and become among the first in the UK to drive it when cars arrive in showrooms and deliveries begin in December, buyers are today being invited to visit their local Retailer to order their new car.

    It is anticipated that demand for the initial cars will be strong, even before a more comprehensive line-up of T-Roc trim levels opens for order in December, and as an extra incentive this first group of 1,000 retail buyers are being offered smart T-Roc accessory running boards – worth £565 – free of charge, further helping them stand out from the SUV crowd.

    The T-Roc sees Volkswagen enter a new market segment with this stylish and sporty model. Sitting beneath the established and extremely popular Tiguan SUV, and above the forthcoming new T-Cross small SUV, the T-Roc represents a key element of Volkswagen’s ongoing SUV offensive.

    Form and function


    A wide and long stance allied to a relatively low roofline and steeply raked C-pillar underscore not only the T-Roc’s sporting style but also its dynamic and engaging ride and handling characteristics.

    T-Roc measures 4,234 mm long (252 mm shorter than the Tiguan), and it has a 2,603 mm wheelbase. The SUV’s width is 1,819 mm (excluding door mirrors), and its height is 1,573 mm. For comparison, the current Golf measures 4,255 mm long, 1,799 mm wide (excluding mirrors), 1,452 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,637 mm.

    UK order books are opening today (3 October) for the sixth generation of Volkswagen’s perennially popular supermini – the Polo – with prices for the entry-level S trim confirmed at £13,855 RRP OTR.


    The brand’s now omnipresent supermini, which in its previous five iterations has sold more than 14 million examples worldwide, is from today being offered in five-door only form and, in time, in seven generously specified trim levels.

    The main focus of the new sixth generation Polo is a major increase in cabin and luggage space within larger external dimensions alongside the debut of new engines, sharper design, new ‘big car’ assistance systems, the application of a new generation of infotainment systems and the global debut of the second generation of Volkswagen’s Active Info Display.

    The developments in Polo – which has found a home with more than 1.4 million drivers in the UK over the last 42 years – also reflect a new level for assistance systems in the supermini segment. Technologies such as City Emergency Braking with new Pedestrian Monitoring function, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Blind Spot Detection significantly improve safety.
