500 limited-edition junior Bugatti cars built to celebrate the brand’s 110th anniversary

The car that brought Automobiles Ettore Bugatti to fame in the 1920s, the Bugatti Type 35, is generally acknowledged as the most successful racing car of all time. During its long career it won around 2,000 professional and amateur races, averaging more than fourteen per week at its peak. In 1926 Ettore and his son Jean decided to build a half-scale Type 35 for Ettore’s youngest son, Roland, on the occasion of his fourth birthday. Now, on the occasion of the company’s 110th birthday, Bugatti and Junior Classics are reviving the idea of the Bugatti ‘Baby’, presenting the first 3D-printed design model on the Bugatti stand at Geneva International Motorshow.

What Ettore and Jean had intended as a one-off car, became an official Bugatti vehicle. The feedback from customers visiting Molsheim had been so positive that it went into production and was sold between 1927 and 1936. The Bugatti ‘Baby’ was born. Cherished by Bugatti enthusiasts worldwide, today no collection is complete without a Baby. However, with only around 500 ever made, they have been the preserve of the lucky few. Until now.

The Bugatti Baby for a new generation

To celebrate Bugatti’s 110th anniversary, we are introducing the smallest member of the Bugatti family: the Baby II. A contemporary tribute to Ettore’s masterpiece, the Baby II will be a strictly limited run, just like the original: only 500 cars will be built. Unlike the original, which was only suitable for the youngest drivers, the Baby II is a three-quarters-size

    • Dynamic VISION iV is ŠKODA’s next step towards eMobility
    • All-electric crossover coupé with a power output of 225 kW (306 PS) and all-wheel drive
    • Look ahead at ŠKODA’s first production car to be based on the MEB platform

The all-electric VISION iV concept study offers a look ahead at ŠKODA’s electric future. By introducing its first vehicle to be based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB modular electric car platform, the Czech brand is taking the next step in its journey towards eMobility. The four‑door crossover coupé impresses with sporty, emotive lines and exudes a feeling of spaciousness. A dynamic driving experience is ensured by all-wheel drive and two electric motors outputting 225 kW (306 PS).

The VISION iV is 4,665 mm long, 1,926 mm wide and has a height of 1,613 mm. Dynamic lines lend it a sporty appearance. Even from the outside, the interior’s spacious feel is evident from the new proportions created by a short bonnet and a long passenger cabin. The VISION iV offers a concrete preview of ŠKODA’s first production car to be based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform.

Reinterpreted ŠKODA grille and a horizontal light strip

The concept car features a horizontal light strip that – running across the reinterpreted, wide, covered ŠKODA grille that has delicate vertical slats and crystalline structures – spans the entire width of the vehicle and connects the Matrix LED headlights. The athletic side view of the VISION iV is shaped by bold wings and a coupé-like roofline. The doors do not have any handles – just a touch will open them automatically. Classic wing mirrors have been replaced by cameras providing a 180-degree view which is relayed in the rear-view mirror. The multi-level arrangement of the instrument panel and centre console as well as a seemingly floating screen add a new dimension to the interior.

Two electric motors and consistent smartphone integration

Fully electric SUV concept shows how the first e-tron to be built on the more compact MEB platform may take shape

    • Compact electric SUV with all-wheel drive presented at Geneva Motor Show
    • Range of more than 450 kilometres (279 miles) thanks to versatile efficiency technologies
    • Production version to be launched at the end of 2020 as the Audi brand’s fifth electric model

Almost exactly one year since the first Audi e-tron made its camouflaged debut at the Geneva Motor Show, a concept that will form the basis of the fifth fully electric model to join the range by the close of the decade is set to break cover at the same location. The
Audi Q4 e-tron concept is a compact four-door SUV whose relation to the Audi e-tron is apparent at first glance.

Two electric motors mobilise 225 kW of system power in the Q4 e-tron concept. As is typical for Audi, the driving power of the concept vehicle is brought to the road with quattro all-wheel drive. Thanks to excellent traction, it accelerates from zero to 62mph in just 6.3 seconds. It reaches its maximum speed at an electronically limited 111mph. A large battery with a capacity of 82 kilowatt hours takes up almost the entire space in the underbody area between the axles. The range of over 450 kilometres (279 miles) – in line with the WLTP standard – sets the benchmark in its class. The technology of the Q4 e-tron concept controls the modular electrification platform (MEB) that will be integrated in numerous electric vehicles produced by the Volkswagen Group in the future, from the compact class to the medium-size class.

The Audi Q4 e-tron concept gives an advance look at what will already be the fifth series production electric vehicle that the manufacturer will introduce by the

    • Summer cruiser: ID. BUGGY1) takes the idea of the legendary dune buggies into the age of electric mobility
    • Pure driving pleasure: With the ID. BUGGY concept car, Volkswagen is showing a new, leisure-oriented facet of electric mobility
    • Based on modular electric drive matrix: Safety chassis with zero-emission drive and battery based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB)

Volkswagen presents the ID. BUGGY at the Geneva International Motor Show. On the evening prior to the first press day, the concept car will celebrate its world premiere at the Volkswagen Group Night. The ID. BUGGY is a zero-emissions high-tech vehicle for summer, on the beach or in the city, based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB). “The ID. BUGGY demonstrates the broad spectrum of emission-free mobility that can be achieved with the MEB within the Volkswagen brand. But we want to open up the platform for third-party suppliers”, explains Ralf Brandstätter, COO of the Volkswagen brand.

The parallels between the Californian dune buggies of the sixties and the new ID. BUGGY are apparent. All beach buggies from back then featured a high degree of modular variability – based on the chassis of the legendary Beetle, with a four-cylinder boxer engine running at the rear. Small series manufacturers stretched a cover made of glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP) over the chassis and engine of the Beetle, thus writing automotive history. The ID. BUGGY is tied to this cult concept with the technical possibilities of the modern

    • Range-topping 3.0 V6 TSI petrol provides 340 PS, 450 Nm
    • Punchy powertrain propels luxury SUV to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds
    • £52,635 starting price for powerful petrol Touareg in SEL trim

Volkswagen has increased the engine choice for Touareg customers, with the introduction of a new, powerful 340 PS 3.0-litre V6 TSI engine to the premium class SUV’s range, in addition to the capable 231 PS and 286 PS TDI diesel units already on offer.

The latest member of Volkswagen’s growing range of SUVs brings even more choice for Touareg customers, adding a third powertrain to the model’s previous line-up of 3.0-litre V6 TDI engines, with all three units available in SEL, R-Line and R-Line tech specs.

This new petrol engine delivers its peak 340 PS power output between 5,300 and 6,400 rpm, with 450 Nm of torque produced between 1,340 rpm – just above idle – and 5,300 rpm. Just like the diesel-powered Touaregs, the petrol engine’s power is delivered to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, with a limited slip differential combining with the system to give the Touareg its sharp road handling.

The Touareg 3.0 V6 TSI 340 PS reaches 62 mph from a standstill in 5.9 seconds before going on to a top speed of 155 mph where permitted, making it the fastest variant in the Touareg range.

Towing weights remain unchanged over the diesel models, with a maximum weight of 3,500 kg possible for all three powertrains, while the 340 PS Touareg itself is a full 50 kg lighter than its diesel counterparts,

The true form of luxury is individuality. ‘La Voiture Noire’ is now at the cutting edge of automobile production. It is a sculptural beauty with unique technology, the ideal grand tourisme,” says Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann. This is a coupé with the comfort of a luxury limousine and the power of a hyper sports car.

A pioneering spirit, a passion for perfection and the desire to continually redefine its limits have been the key characteristics of Bugatti since the brand was established 110 years ago. “Our history is both a privilege and a responsibility – the responsibility for continuing the Bugatti heritage into the future. With “La Voiture Noire”, we are paying homage to our heritage and bringing speed, technology, luxury and aesthetics forward to a new era,” says Stephan Winkelmann. The new hyper sports car reflects Bugatti’s
French heritage and its French identity – elegance through minimalism and refinement through intensification. This is a tailor-made creation only comparable with the haute couture of exclusive Paris fashion designers.

“La Voiture Noire” - more than a reinterpretation

“La Voiture Noire is a far more than a modern interpretation of Jean Bugatti’s Type 57 SC Atlantic. It is a feast of aesthetics,” says Stephan Winkelmann. With its extended front end and the distinctive Bugatti C-line, the “Voiture Noire“ creates an elongated impression with the elegant waistline defining the contours of the coupé. Purism and elegance are reflected in the surfaces and the clear lines. The bumpers are smoothly integrated into the body and the windscreen seems to flow seamlessly into the windows at
