    ŠKODA’s SUV offensive is continuing apace. With the new crossover, the Czech brand is presenting another new model that will expand its SUV range, complementing the successful Kodiaq and Karoq. ŠKODA has released a teaser image showing the vehicle’s silhouette – the first indication of what the future crossover model, which will have its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (5–17 March), will look like. The image provides a first glimpse of the front section and also shows the distinctive new LED headlamp design with separate daytime running lights at the top and integrated dynamic indicators.

    The new ŠKODA model offers the best of two worlds. It combines the advantages of an SUV – raised seating position, better overview, more comfortable ingress and egress, increased ground clearance – with the agility and handling of a compact car.     Volkswagen has added a host of equipment upgrades to the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace, with the introduction of new, generously-equipped Match and R-Line Tech specifications, in addition to a punchy new petrol engine with 230 PS.

    Match trim replaces the already value-focused SE and SE Nav trims, but also brings a rear view camera, park assist, keyless entry and 19” Victoria alloy wheels. This package, when factoring in a small price revision, equates to £1,130 of added value over the previous SE Nav spec, with the same engines and transmissions offered as the outgoing trims.

    The Tiguan Match starts from £26,750 RRP OTR with Volkswagen’s 130 PS 1.5-litre TSI EVO engine, two-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, and the Tiguan Match range is topped by a 190 PS 2.0-litre TDI SCR variant with 4MOTION all-wheel drive and a DSG gearbox, at £34,770 RRP OTR.

    With the total value of these options being £1,330, a small price realignment of £200 over SE Nav examples represents over £1,100 of added value to these new Tiguan models.

    R-Line is also being replaced, by a new R-Line Tech trim. This specification now includes a £1,485 package of options comprising area view, Park Assist, Keyless entry and full electric tailgate operation. The same £200 price revision equates to an extra £1,285 of standard equipment now

    Volkswagen’s Arteon five-seat fastback is gaining a new range-topping engine: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol unit developing 272 PS from 5,100 to 6,500 rpm.

    The Arteon’s newest powertrain delivers 272 PS and 350 Nm of torque, allowing the top-of-the-range 2.0-litre TSI-engined Arteon to accelerate to 62mph in just 5.6 seconds – 0.8 seconds quicker even than a Golf GTI Performance – and on to a top speed, where the law permits, of 155 mph.

    The powertrain is available for both Arteon trim levels – Elegance or R-Line – and is fitted with 4MOTION all-wheel drive and a DSG automatic gearbox as standard. The 272 PS Arteon starts at £39,065 RRP OTR in luxurious Elegance specification and £39,850 RRP OTR in sportier R-Line form.

    Despite the greater power, the 272 PS fastback still offers impressive running costs, emitting 160 g/km CO2 and returning 40.4 mpg on the combined cycle1. Performance is comparable to that of Volkswagen’s other high-performance cars, with the only model to out-accelerate the 272 PS Arteon being the brand’s flagship performance champion: the Golf R.

    Volkswagen has enhanced the equipment of its perennially-popular Golf, with SE and SE Navigation trim levels now replaced by the new, even more generously-equipped Match specification.

    In addition to the extensive equipment standard on the outgoing SE and SE Navigation models, new Match specification Golfs now receive a new alloy wheel design, front fog lights, Discover Navigation and tinted rear windows as standard.

    The additional equipment, in combination with a small price revision, mean that like-for-like, the Golf Match offers a saving of over £300 compared with the SE Navigation specification. In hatchback form, the Golf Match is priced at £20,510 RRP OTR, equipped with Volkswagen’s efficient 115 PS 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine.

    The Golf Estate Match is priced at £22,385 RRP OTR, and the spacious Golf SV Match at £22,745, meaning savings over similarly-engined models of over £400 for Golf Estate SE, and Golf Estate SE Navigation, and over £300 for Golf SV SE and SE Navigation.

    Audi is presenting one of the stars of the 2018 Auto Show in the movie capital Los Angeles. With the electric powered Audi e-tron GT concept, a four-door coupé is making its debut as a show car. The series-production counterpart is set to follow in around two years.

    The next electric Audi is being launched, following in the footsteps of the Audi e-tron SUV and the Audi e‑tron Sportback slated for 2019. This time with a flat-floor architecture that provides for exciting proportions and a low centre of gravity. 434 kW (590PS) ensure performance fit for a sports car. The torque is transferred to the wheels via the quattro permanent all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, as you would expect for such a dynamic Audi. The performance subsidiary Audi Sport GmbH is responsible for subsequently transforming the car into a series-production model.

    Inspiration drawn from the wind tunnel: design and body

    Flat, wide and with a long wheelbase – those are the proportions of a classic Gran Turismo. And the Audi e‑tron GT concept reflects these with its 4.96-metre (16.3 ft) length, 1.96-metre(6.4 ft) width and 1.38‑metre (4.5 ft) height.
