op rank sporting and luxury specification options broaden the appeal of more models across the Audi range in the UK

    • Black Edition specification now also available for Q2, A5 Coupe and Sportback and Q5 models
    • Most comprehensive and luxurious Vorsprung specification also now offered for A5 Sportback, Coupe and Cabriolet models, for the Q5 and for the A7 Sportback.
    • Black Edition models build on S line sports specification with larger wheels, matt or gloss black detailing and privacy glass
    • Vorsprung models further expand on the Black Edition package, adding numerous technology upgrades and luxury indulgences

Audi customers with a preference for performance, and also those who lean more towards luxury and the last word in technology, are even better catered for from this month as the choice of Black Edition and Vorsprung versions across the Audi range expands.

The Black Edition option that builds on the visual appeal of the S line sports specification is now additionally available for Q2, A5 Coupé and Sportback and Q5 models. At the same time, the new Vorsprung equipment package already offering the ultimate in luxury and technology in Q7 and Q8 models can now be specified for the A5 Coupé, Sportback and Cabriolet, the Q5 and the A7 Sportback.

In the Q2 and Q5 models and the Coupe and Sportback versions of the A5, Black Edition specification brings larger 19-inch or 20-inch (depending on model) alloy wheels in gloss black, a black styling pack adding a Matt Titanium Black or Gloss Titanium Black finish to components such as the Single Frame grille surround, air inlets, rear diffuser and door mirror housings, plus darkened rear ...

High performance mid-size SUV returns with TDI power, MHEV drivetrain and compressor technology adopted from the SQ7

    • New SQ5 TDI and SQ5 TDI Vorsprung models available to order in the UK in the spring – pricing to be confirmed
    • 3.0 V6 TDI engine with 347PS, 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft), electrically powered compressor, classic turbocharger and 48 V mild hybrid technology
    • Eight-speed tiptronic and quattro permanent all-wheel drive
    • Suspension with damper control as standard, optional air suspension

Twin-turbo exhilaration delivered with TDI moderation in versatile SUV accommodation – the original Audi SQ5 won a loyal following for its pragmatic approach to performance, and the successful formula behind it returns in up-to-the-minute form in the new, third generation SQ5 TDI. Set to re-join the UK range in the spring, the high performance SUV with new Electrically Powered Compressor and MHEV drivetrain will be available in two forms - SQ5 and SQ5 Vorsprung - the latter offering an even more lavish and technologically sophisticated specification.

Like the first SQ5 the basis for the newcomer’s well-rounded CV is a muscular V6 TDI engine, but the original BiTDI powerhouse is replaced here by a unit supported by a single turbocharger, a separate electrically powered compressor for split-second response and a mild hybrid system to underpin the thrilling performance with appropriate efficiency. The result is mammoth maximum torque of 700Nm from barely more than idling speed, peak power of 347PS, 5.1-second 0-62mph sprint capability and CO2 output of as little as 172g/km.

The mighty 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) torque peak is available from just 2,500 rpm, and with its help the performance SUV clears 62mph from rest in 5.1 seconds and tops out at an electrically limited top speed of 155mph. Under WLTP test conditions the sophisticated engine, which has ...

    • 290 PS race-inspired special costs from £34,135 RRP OTR
    • Suite of extras marks car out from GTI Performance
    • 5.6 seconds to 62 mph; 164 mph top speed, where legal

he race car-inspired Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is now open for order in the UK, with a starting price of £34,135 RRP OTR for the 290 PS flagship of the GTI range.

The latest evolution of a true motoring icon, this front-wheel drive performance hero is the latest in a long line of sporting Golfs that have become the measure by which all others in their class are calibrated. Inspired by, and derived from, the race car of the same name – twice the overall winner of the international TCR (Touring Car Racing) series – the new Golf GTI TCR tops off the current GTI range in the UK, with the first examples arriving in March.

Indeed, the new model takes the GTI nomenclature up a notch in terms of power and performance. Its 290 PS power peak – a full-time peak here, unlike the ‘boost’ peak available in the former GTI Clubsport Edition 40 – is channeled through a seven-speed DSG (dual clutch) gearbox and carries this new model from rest to 62 mph in a spirited 5.6 seconds and on to a top speed of as much as 164 mph.

The new GTI’s performance is as accessible as it is impressive. The 290 PS maximum power figure arrives at 5,400 rpm while all 380 Nm of torque is on offer from a mere 1,800 rpm, and remains available until 5,300 rpm. Indeed, a meaningful 200 Nm is on tap at just 1,000 rpm – essentially at little more than idle speed.

Together with the almost instant shifting nature of the standard-fit ...
